The New Girl

Rescued!

I finally started to wake up and I was aware of what was going on around me. I was still very weak and I couldn't sit up. I could see I had bruises all over my arms and my face and nose were still bleeding. I had a horrible feeling that today was the day she was going to kill me, she wasn't going to leave me alone anymore.

All of a sudden I could slightly see blue flashing lights outside and I could hear someone breaking the door down and I knew someone was coming to save me.

"Hello, is someone there?! Help me, I'm in here! Someone help me, I'm scared!! I want to go home!" I shouted as loud as I could. I didn't care if Mrs Skorjanec heard me, all I knew was someone was out there to save me. 

"Janette?! Where are you Bučka??" Aljaz shouted.

"I'm in here Bučko!!" I shouted back using everything I had to crawl over to the door.

"Janette! Tell us where you are!" Dianne said.

"Dianne I'm in this room!" I said banging my hand on the door as loud as I could.

"Aljaz, she's in here!"

"I'm coming sweetheart, I'm coming!!" Aljaz shouted. I crawled back as Aljaz started breaking the door down. He ran into the room and hugged me tightly.

"Janette oh my god!! I found you I found you!! I can't believe my Mum did something like this!! Where is she?!"

"I don't know... but keep her away from me!" I whimpered as I hugged him back.

"Don't you worry darling, she's going to be locked up for a long time after this. What did she do to you?"

"The question is what didn't she do to me? She beat me up, she had me tied up at one point. I tried to so hard to escape but she was always one step ahead of me! I couldn't get away from her, I seriously thought she was going to kill me!" I said hysterically crying.

"Shush Janette it's okay, you're safe now! Officer Milner, I've found her!!"

"Oh my goodness, I'll call an ambulance!! Janette needs to get to the hospital now!"

"I haven't eaten anything in days!"

"Janette you'll be fine once the doctors have looked after you!"

"Aljaz will you come with me?" I said quietly.

"Of course sweetheart I am never ever leaving your side again!"

"The ambulance are on their way!" Officer Milner said coming in the room. "Well Janette you are one tough cookie! I didn't expect to find you alive to be honest with you!"

"I thought she was going to kill me!"

"Do you have any idea of where Mrs Skorjanec could be?"

"I don't know, I've only ever been out of this room once, but I didn't get far enough to see where she was. She always just appeared from nowhere!"

"Well we'll have a look for her, you just worry about getting better!"

Five minutes later the ambulance arrived and took me, Aljaz, Dianne and Amy to the hospital.

"You need to call my Mum and Dad so they know I'm okay!" I said lying down and feeling the room spinning. "Aljaz I don't feel well..."

"Janette you haven't eaten in days, you're bound to feel horrible!"

"Okay we'll get you attached to a drip and keep you in here for about a week but we can change that if you start to feel better. The good news is you aren't going to need any surgery as your injuries aren't that severe."

"Is there any word of where your Mum is?"

"No I haven't heard anything yet!"

"Janette sweetheart oh my god there you are!!" I heard my Mum shouting.

"Mum Dad!! I thought I was never going to see you again!!" I shouted bursting into tears.

"What did she do to you?!"

"Everything she could! She held a knife to me at one point, luckily she never used it!"

"I'm just so glad we have you back and you're okay!"

"Well I'm as well as I can be..."

"We'll give you guys some space!" Dianne said giving me a hug trying not to hurt me.

"Aljaz stay here! Don't leave me!" I said.

"I'll be right outside baby, I'm not going anywhere, I'm going to phone my Dad to see if they've found my Mum."

"So why did Mrs Skorjanec kidnap you?" My Dad asked.

"She said she wouldn't let me go until I agreed to break up with Aljaz and never see him again. I wasn't going to give in and do it so she kept me there. Any time I tried to escape she would beat me up, the last time she did I genuinely thought she was going to kill me!" I said shaking.

"Sounds to me like she has attachment issues. Like she doesn't want anyone taking Aljaz away from her. Surely she knows that not all kids stay with their parents forever.

"I don't really care about her and her issues!! All I need to know is that she's never going to get anywhere near my Daughter again!" My Mum shouted.

"Mum calm down, don't worry the police are going to find her. She couldn't have gone far without anyone seeing her!"

"Hello Janette how are we feeling?" A nurse asked coming into my room.

"I'm okay thanks! Even better now my parents are here!"

"Ah hello Mr and Mrs Manrara! Your daughters a little fighter! Normally someone would not have survived that ordeal!"

"Can you make sure there are guards outside Janette's room? I don't like the thought of her being here by herself without me or her Dad to keep an eye on her!"

"Mum I'm fine I don't need guards!! That's what Aljaz is for! I know he's not going to let me out of his sight!"

"Yes but what happens at night when he has to go home? I'm not letting you stay here by yourself!"

"Don't worry Mrs Manrara, we will constantly have someone with Janette!"

I lay down in the bed covering my face... I was so embarrassed! I knew Mrs Skorjanec hadn't been found yet but I highly doubt she would come in to the hospital!
