~~~All my friends, they say they like her, but I know behind my back~~~
(Y/N) sighed to herself. Why were there so many people in this section of the files? I mean, how many people in the city of San Fransokyo have a last name that began with H-A-M?
Seeing the file she wanted surrounded by an imaginary angelic glow, (Y/N) grabbed the file and walked quickly out of the storage room. She plopped down at her office desk and opened the Manila folder.
The folder read:
Name: HAMADA, TADASHI
Age: 18
Status: DECEASED
Family: HAMADA, CASSIDY; HAMADA, HIRO
(Y/N) scanned the info and much more, looking for anything suspicious. Of course, she knew Tadashi had been alive after the explosion. She had even been trapped in the same room as him!
But...she never told Hiro Tadashi was alive before she left. Would that mean...
No. No, that only happens in the animes.
If Hiro hadn't contacted him over the course of four years, (Y/N) could see why he'd be angry about his little brother mass-producing his invention.
She shut the file in her desk and grabbed her coat, pulling it on as she rushed through the door. She had to find Hiro and tell him.
~~~~~~~~~
Hiro sat up groggily and leaned against a nearby wall. His thoughts were clouded, and he had to blink a few times to get the sleep out of his eyes, but now he was awake. Awake and with no idea where he was or how he got there.
The last thing he remembered was drinking a steaming cup of coffee that the barista--a short, red haired girl with green ribbons around curly pigtails, even though she was his age--had insisted he stayed in the cafe.
Now, sitting in the darkness, he realized how suspicious that actually was.
He heard quiet footsteps and whirled around, trying to face where the sound was coming from. There was some kind of cloth around his wrists, binding them.
"It's been a long time, Hiro," a voice suddenly said from behind him. Hiro gasped and turned around.
No. No, this couldn't be happening. This guy must just look like Tadashi. He died in the explosion.
But yet, the man's face was exactly the same--though four years older. His eyes were still as expressive, his frame just as welcoming. The only thing that seemed to have changed since the last time Hiro saw his brother was the tone of his voice. Tadashi's voice was always soft and welcoming.
Now, it was cold and strained.
"T-Tadashi?" Hiro stuttered out in disbelief.
Tadashi laughed. "The one and only." When he saw Hiro's face, he stopped laughing. "Did you seriously think I was killed in that explosion? Of course not." Tadashi paused for a moment and looked at Hiro with knowing eyes. "How do you think your precious (Y/N) escaped?"
Hiro said nothing.
This was not the brother who welcomed him home and comforted him and encouraged his talents. This...this wasn't his Tadashi.
"How is (Y/N), anyway? The last time I saw, you two were having breakfast in her kitchen. It's quite strange, really; she seems to...change her clothes a lot when she's out in her apartment," Tadashi remarked. "She really is beautiful."
Hiro gritted his teeth. "You stay away from her," he said angrily. His brother would never act like this. Why was he acting like this now?
"I'll do whatever I want, thanks," Tadashi replied. "Besides, I am four years your senior. If I wanted to, I could just--" Suddenly, Hiro was pinned by his shoulders to the wall behind him. "--get you out of my way right now, just like that." Tadashi snapped his fingers. "But you're my beloved little brother, so I guess I won't."
"Why am I here? What do you want from me?" Hiro demanded. Tadashi raised an eyebrow.
"I want you to stop seeing (Y/N)."

Flashback
(Y/N) sat shivering on the bench in the cold weather with her single backpack and messenger bag, waiting for the bus that would bring her to her next clue: Maine.
The wind was blowing fiercely, making 30 degree temps feel like -30. It also didn't help that the drizzling rain was coming down in icy zings.
It was also Valentine's Day.
(Y/N) felt her stomach lurch and her heart contract painfully every time she saw a couple happily walking by. They all reminded her of Hiro.
(Y/N)'s breath billowed out away from her as she sighed and curled up into a tight ball on the cold, metal bench.
Why hadn't she told him to his face how she felt?
