~~~I'll leave a trail of roses that lead back home~~~
The flames still raged as (Y/N) struggled to lift debris from Hiro. She was inhaling much more smoke than she should've; she was starting to cough violently. Suddenly, something soft bumped into her.
"Hello, I am Bayma--"
"NO TIME, GRAB THAT!" (Y/N) yelled. Baymax nodded and grabbed the pillar, lifting it off the limp body.
"Good job, now get is both out of here," (Y/N) said. Baymax scooped Hiro up and (Y/N) climbed onto his back, trying to ignore the memories.
"Hold on tight," Baymax said, zooming out of the building. At the fresh air, she sighed in relief. Hopefully, Hiro would be okay...
Wait.
Hiro's hair is not red.
He doesn't usually wear girls' clothing.
Hiro's face is not speckled with freckles and he does not wear green ribbons in his hair.
(Y/N) suddenly felt really, really dizzy.
~~~
(Y/N) came to with a hand shaking her shoulder gently.
"(Y/N)...(Y/N) wake up..."
(Y/N) bolted straight up, bringing her fist with her.
"OW!" Hiro yelled, grabbing his now sore nose.
"Oh my gosh, I'm sorry!" She exclaimed, feeling like an idiot for punching him in the face.
"Ih's fhine," Hiro said nasally. She giggled, and finally took in her surroundings. Light yellow wallpaper, linen sheets on a small bed, beeping noises, sterile air: she was in a hospital. And, for some reason, it felt like the left side of her face was throbbing with every heartbeat.
"Hiro, what happened?" She asked, beyond confused. Hiro took a deep breath.
"Fred and everyone else broke into the building, but he accidentally set it on fire. We couldn't get you out before a giant fire was blazing. You guys were trapped in there until Baymax could fly in and save you. After that--"
"Wait," she interrupted, "did you say 'you guys'?"
Hiro nodded. "Yeah. You and Dakota. She led you out of there when we couldn't," he said. He looked away from (Y/N) At this point. "I'll never forgive her for what she did to you, but I'm glad you helped her out of there."
"What happened to her?" She asked, a guilty concern dropping a lead weight on her stomach.
Hiro didn't look her in the eye or speak for a solid minute.
"She didn't make it. There were problems with her lungs, and she died a few hours ago."
There was an uncomfortable, sad silence.
"Her last words were an apology to you, (Y/N)," Hiro said softly. She could feel tear streaking down her face as she began her next question.
"And what about Tadashi?"
Hiro bit his lip. Hard. But it wasn't enough to keep him from crying. Before long, he was crying horribly into (Y/N)'s embrace.
"Shh, it's okay Hiro, it's all going to be okay," she tried to soothe him.
She knew it wouldn't work.
"I-I've lost my brother twice now. He was there, and then he wasn't. He's gone, (Y/N)," he sobbed, "he's really gone."
( ;-;)><(;-; ) Crying Baymax feels your pain.
Flashback:
Dakota watched the (h/c) girl from across the diner.
She had been doubtful a few moments ago, but now she was
sure.That girl was the one who had save her life.
"Dakota, what's wrong?" Tadashi asked, glancing around worriedly. He was on high alert almost constantly. Dakota smiled reassuringly.
"I just found an old...friend of mine."
