~~~She spends her daddy's credit cards and says that I'm the one who's lazy~~~
Rain like teardrops spattered the sidewalk, coating the night in a glossy sheen. City lights reflected off of the ground as (Y/N) walked uneasily down the narrow alleyway. Usually in this part of town, chatter and cheering could be heard from here.
But not tonight.
Tonight it was dead silent except for the drip drip drip of the scattered raindrops.
When she reached the end of the alleyway, she noticed a door on the side of the building. Her breath hitched.
Hiro's in there.
She knew it might not be true, but there was a feeling in her gut that made her believe it. She kept one hand gently on the pistol she was allowed to keep on her while off-duty. Why they let an eighteen-year-old carry a dangerous weapon, she had no idea.
(Y/N) slowly inched open the door, stepping inside slowly. She heard muffled voices down the hallway from her.
There was a dim light under a nearby door. (Y/N) tried slowing her breathing, then slowly walked into the small room.
It was almost empty, with bare off-white walls and concrete floors and a singular hanging lightbulb above a chair, occupied by...
Hiro.
She nearly hiccuped in relief when she saw that he was okay, even though a taller man stood to his right. (Y/N) assumed it was Tadashi: same figure, same stance, even same little teasing smirk that she could tell was there by a little muscle movement.
Automatically, her hand shot to her holster and grabbed her pistol. "This is SFPD. Put your hands--ah!"
"Hey there sweetie!" a familiar voice like poisoned honey said cheerfully in (Y/N)'s ear, quickly jabbing her in a specific spot on her neck with her finger. (Y/N) squeaked and her knees buckled, forcing her to drop her gun and sink to the floor involuntarily.
"D-Dakota?" (Y/N) gasped, stunned and horrified at the same time. The flaming redhead winked at her.
"The one an only," she said, making (Y/N) feel sick to her stomach.
"Nice work," Tadashi said, turning around. "Hey there, (Y/N). It's been a long time, hasn't it?"
She said nothing.
"Well, I never gave up on meeting you again," he said, "but I surely didn't expect to find out you're dating my brother."
"Don't touch her," Hiro growled. (Y/N)'s heart panged. He sounded horrible.
"You can do whatever you want with our Miss (Y/N), Dakota, but make sure she doesn't get away," Tadashi ordered. Dakota smirked and nodded.
"G'night, (Y/N)," she said, green eyes sparkling with dark intent before landing a swift blow to your temple that promptly made you go unconscious.
Flashback:
"Ma'am, here are your records. I'm disappointed to say that the people in question are deceased."
Deceased.
That word she had seen a million times managed to rip her heart out of her chest.
Her parents were deceased. Dead. GONE.
(Y/N) smiled fakely, thanked the woman, and walked out into the street trying to restrain the waterfall of tears coming from her eyes.
