~~~She ran out of gas and somehow I'm to blame~~~
"Hiro, c'mon and hurry up! We're going to be late!" (Y/N) exclaimed, tugging his wrist along. He yelped in surprise, then quickly sped up to keep up with his overly excited girlfriend.
"Geez, I didn't think you'd be too interested in the Tech Faire," Hiro said, scratching the back of his neck. (Y/N) smiled.
"Of course I'm excited! Whenever I'm around you, it's just...I dunno! I get really happy and energetic and peaceful," she explained. "Plus, there's a giant Ferris Wheel! How cool is that?"
"Wait a sec," Hiro said, throwing her a questioning glance, "aren't you afraid of heights?" An awkward moment passed between the two as they remembered a moment up in the skies of the city and a first kiss stolen for a distraction.
"Not anymore," (Y/N) said after a minute. They walked in silence until reaching the open gate of the park where the Tech Faire was held.
Held once every five years, the Tech Faire showcased revolutionary technology from around the world--after all, the San Fransokyo Institute of Technology, the college Hiro attended, had some of the most advanced tech in the world.
"Aw man, the line for the wheel is packed!" Hiro complained, making (Y/N) chuckle.
"We can come back later when the stars are out," she said, gently tugging on her boyfriend's arm. "Okay, genius, where do we go from here?"
Later, after several escapades involving rocket boots, a squirrel, and a small cactus, Hiro and (Y/N) made their way back to the line for the Ferris Wheel. It was significantly smaller; in fact, the two were able to get into one of the compartments alone, and sat quite close to each other.
The structure itself was a work of art. The compartments floated in the air, similar to Gogo's maglev discs, but a lot more powerful. The whole thing was white and a glowing, electric blue, and the small compartments had no roofs and soft, comfortable seats. The whole thing was quite tall, and at the top, you could see almost all of San Fransokyo.
"Wow, what a view," (Y/N) murmured as their ascent began. The sparkling city sprawled out beneath them.
"Yeah," Hiro said, looking at (Y/N) instead of the city.
"You were looking at me, weren't you?"
"I-I was not!"
"My god, you're such a dork!" (Y/N) laughed. Hiro made a sad face. "Well, you might be a dork, but you're my dork," she said, resting her head on his shoulder.
"And you're mine, Miss Call Me Special Agent (Y/N)," Hiro remarked, making her gasp and laugh so hard tears started running out of her eyes.
"And I'm never letting you go again," Hiro said, kissing her passionately as the compartment came to a quiet stop at the top of the Ferris Wheel, stars twinkling like crystals in the sky.
When the ride came to a stop, the two split up so Hiro could use the bathroom. (Y/N) spotted a food vendor nearby.
"That's weird, I don't remember that being there when we got on the wheel..." she murmured to herself. Regardless, she walked over to buy her only weakness: roasted almonds. (if you're allergic, pretend it's something else or get your Epipen ready)
"One bag of almonds, please," (Y/N) asked. A girl around her age with wavy, auburn pigtails and bright blue eyes and a name tag reading "Dakota" smiled back at her.
"One second, ma'am, you're our thousandth customer! I'll get you a special bag from the bag," she said, disappearing. When she returned, a giant bag of the sugar-coated, warm nuts was presented to (Y/N).
"Thanks!" (Y/N) said, smiling and eating a nut. It tasted...odd. Suddenly, she found herself needing to sit down. Her head started to feel light, while simultaneously, she got a massive headache.
Before she knew it, her vision was black, and she could faintly feel being dragged across the rough concrete to an unknown destination.
Flashback:
After spending hours at the library checking out books, (Y/N) sat down in a small cafe in Chicago. Her former hometown had the most promise; she ha moved from this place when she was only five. But that didn't mean that her parents weren't hiding something here.
The barista saw the large stack of books and poured some coffee into a large cup. "Any espresso, ma'am? You look like you need it."
"Yeah. Yeah, I really do."
Back to the old tradition of being really exhausted at the end of these.
Also when I was describing the stars I put Cullen fist but then am was like "OMG is anyone going to catch that probably not"
I can't stay for a longer AN, it just keeps happening.
Until next time, Reader-chan!
