"SOOOON YOUNG!!!"
I ran from the house with a stick of fishcake in my mouth and a spare change I snatched mom's apron.
"THIS KID! Oh, Jeonghan-ah, be sure to get home by dinner. I will need some help with the stall." Mom tapped hyung's back as he walked calmly.
"Of course, bye auntie."
"Bye~"Hyung then reached me by the post while I finish my fishcake.
"Leggo!"
"Soonyoung-ah. You should stop eating for free."
"Ahhh it's not as if this one stick is a big loss to the stall.""It's not a big loss, but" hyung stopped, sparked a cigar, exhaled the smoke opposite my direction and continued "It's a big gain to your weight."
I gasped so loud I think I suctioned a fly. No way, it's bad if I won't meet the weight requirement for the academy.
"You're nervous, right?" Hyung asked.
"Nervous?"
"Results are out today. Last time you lied about going to the arcade. I know you took an exam for the police academy."
"Ahhh your damn lie detector again. Hahahaha."I just laughed it off. I purposely didn't tell anybody about me wanting to be a police. We don't have the money for that. So if I want to be one, I need to go to the academy and grab a scholarship. But, I am so afraid that I won't pass it. I am not even that good.
"Hey, come on. Your tiger's losing." Hyung slapped my back.
"Ack- Hey. I'm okay."We arrived at our high school and I snuck out of class to check if my name got in the list of the passers.
Oh.
So my name isn't there.
Well, I'm not surprised. How can a loser like me pass the exam?
I am not serious about being a police anyway. I think it's too much work. It won't fit me. I just really gave it a try.
"Kwon-egg."
I saw my classmates approach the bulletin board.
"What's up?" I fistbumped them all.
"Water you doin 'ere? Looking for your name?"
"Nooo. I'm going to randomly pick a girl's name, go to her class and ask her out."
"Hahahaha! I thought you took an exam."
"Exam? Well, if I took it, I don't think I'll see my name here. Duh."
"Hahaha! You're so funny, Kwon-egg!"They all laughed while slapping their knees. I then joined them and slapped my face instead. That made them laugh harder.
"Soonyoung."
We turned to see hyung standing behind us, hands in his pocket, staring with his blank eyes.
"Oh, we're leaving. See ya 'round, Kwon-ssi!" And they all left.
"Didn't I tell you to stop hanging out with them?"
"Not like that. We just had a little fun."
"That doesn't look fun to me."
"Come on! We're laughing."
"And you were faking it."I know hyung cares for me a lot. But I hate it when he sees through me. This is how I like to approach my high school life. I want to get along with every one.
"Never talk to those bullies again. Or I'll burn their tongues with my cigar-butt."
"Hyung-"
"No negotiations. Let's go grab lunch."I walked silently along with him to the cafeteria. On our way, I had a brief flashback of my previous years.
