comfort.

alastor placed his chin on his palm, his elbow on the mattress, red eyes on you. it was creepy, he would admit, but he just finds himself staring at your sleeping figure whenever he had the chance.

he found it weird and intriguing, how someone could give him comfort and peace just by looking at them. he was frustrated at first, how could you do that to him? how could you make him feel safe when he was stronger?

but he soon came to accept that you were his comfort, his safe haven. the only person he called his ‘home’, the only woman he wanted and would've introduced to his mother if he could.

suddenly, you shifted and your eyes slowly fluttered open. a smile slowly crept up on your face at the sight of your lover beside you, before that smile turned into concern.

“did you sleep?” you asked, rubbing your eyes before narrowing them to see the alarm clock on your night stand to read 2:37 AM.

“no. not at all, my dear.” he responded, grinning while he pushed back the stray strands of your hair out of your face.

“al,” you started, “it's been four days, do you normally go this long without sleep?”

he chuckled, “this is normal, dearest. i am an insomniac after all.”

alastor's eyes widen when you gently pulled him down, one hand on his nape while the other stroked his hair as you pushed his face against your bust, not enough to suffocate him though.

knowing what you had in mind, he spoke up, “i don't need sleep, darli—”

you cut him off, “shush, go to sleep.”

alastor's mind was complicated sometimes. he was wary of his surroundings, he knew a lot of demons out there wanted his head, he could beat them but he couldn't stop being cautious. the voices told him to do so and sleep wasn't in his vocabulary.

the voices he couldn't stop was drowned out as your singing filled his ears. a lullaby, a lullaby that you knew worked greatly on him. but for him, it wasn't the lullaby. heck, he'd listen to any demon in hell sing but he would not sleep a wink. it was your voice. the only voice that could sing him to sleep.

as his eyes drooped, his mind fought to be awake, but slowly, he caved in. the comfort you gave was irresistible. and soon enough, the radio demon was asleep.

chuckling, you kissed his hair, “sleep tight, my darling deer.”
