may i?.
[ a second part to 'murderer.' ]
the lively lights and music of jazz greeted your eyes and ears the moment you entered a building owned by a close friend of yours. another friend, who you planned this night out with, was quick to rush over to the dance floor with a drink that seemingly came out of nowhere. you weren't bothered however.
you have already visited the place a number of times and knew the owner very well. and speaking of owner, a short blonde woman had made her way to you with a big smile on her face.
“mimzy!” you greeted, giving her a joyful embrace.
she was quick to do the same, also greeting, “oh, honey, y/n! wonderful for you to come! i have someone to introduce to you tonight, you lonely soul.”
by the teasing tone of her voice, you could already tell what was about to go down tonight. either you have a good night with a good gentleman, an awkward one, or with a bad one. still, you appreciated every effort mimzy would do to pair you up with someone. see, the pressure of meeting someone and getting married had been placed on your shoulders by your family as you neared your 30s.
you haven't really met anyone who you clicked with. but hopefully, that man will come.
and to your luck, mimzy had pointed towards this man that immediately casted a red hue on your cheeks just by his appearance alone. tall, slim, a gorgeous smile, and a bright atmosphere that could attract anyone.
you looked down at the shorter flapper lady and waved your hands in front of you. there was no way this man would take interest in you. but mimzy would not take any of that, and so, there you were, now face to face with this stranger.
“lovely evening, my dear!” he greeted, “alastor, quite the pleasure!”
now that you were up close, you could see his features better and boy did they not help the growing blush on your cheeks.
in response, you took alastor's hand that he held out for a hand shake, nodding, “my name is y/n, and the pleasure is mine.”
a firm yet still gentle handshake, your father would like that. almost immediately, you slapped yourself internally at the thought. you had just met and you were already thinking about introducing him to your parents? get a grip, y/n.
you swore it would've been awkward if alastor wasn't such a savior and gestured towards the dance floor, just when the band had started playing. it was upbeat and you could say you were a pretty good dancer.
“may i?” he asked as he reached out a hand.
you smiled, thankful and happy, “you may.”
when you stepped on the dance floor, alastor did not disappoint. in fact, he impressed. your rhythm matched his, your sparkling eyes matched his, your joyful laugh hormonized with his. it was the most fun you had in a while and you wouldn't lie to say that you would love to spend another dance with him.

you opened the curtains, welcoming the morning sunlight into your bedroom with a gentle smile stretched on your lips. looking down at the streets of new orleans, it was quite a normal morning. you had no work as of today and so did your lover. it was a day all to yourselves and you could not be more happier.
