Yutsuki Pov
Barcelona, Spain"Again, I'm sorry that you have to go back here just cause I got sick, Luna." My father told me with a sad look in his eyes as he laid at the hospital bed.
'Luna'
A nickname he gave me ever since I was young, and everyone in Spain had been calling me that ever since. Since my given name, Yutsuki, means moon, he gave me that nickname which also means moon in spanish.
"It's not like I left anything back at Japan, and it's been a few months since I came back, so rest assured." I said, holding his frail hand with both of mine. 'Lies.'
He let out a small smile before looking at me again. "And your mother? Are you getting along with her?" He asked.
"Yes.. We get along just fine, papa." 'Lies.'
"You should be happy okay? Whether with skateboarding, or anything, do what you love to do. My daughter deserves all the best in the world after all."
I awkwardly laughed, even though he is an old man now, he never talked like one. Mostly not one that sounds like they won't live any longer.
"You talk like you're gonna die soon, sheesh." The room fell silent, he didn't answer and just closed his eyes and smiled. "Papa?"
He squeezed my hand, and I could tell, that he's using all his might just to hold mine tighter. A single tear slid down his eye as he opened them slowly and looked at me.
"Te amo, mi pequeña luna." He said with a closed eye smile.
Then he never opened them again.
'My little moon, huh.'
Tears poured from my eyes, silent sobs and the straight beep of the monitor signalling a flat line were the only sounds that were heard in the room.
From birth until I was 13 years of age, we were separated for 12 years, then the last 7 months with him. He loved my mother, who was Japanese, the woman who gave birth to me and gave me my name. Also the one who abandoned me and left me to my father, who raised me alone in Spain.
Even though I lived with her for years, I could never understand why. She did it because she loves me, she said. Yet she never loved the man who loved her, and never loved the child she claimed that she did.
The nurses rushed in with the doctor, trying to resuscitate the lifeless body of my father.
But he already bid farewell.
🌙
I strolled around the busy streets of Barcelona, my feet leading me wherever it wanted to. The place that held most of my childhood memories, every building, pavement, shops, people-
And the skatepark where I first learned how enjoyable skateboarding is.
"Luna!" I turned my head around, tiredly staring at the two who were rushing to me.
Ciara quickly wrapped her arms around me once she got near, giving me a bear hug. 'They must have heard..' I thought, hugging the younger but taller girl back.
"You have our condolences." Luis said faintly, patting both me and Ciara on the head.
I've known these two since I started skateboarding, they were siblings living in the house near mine. At first, Luis was the only one who liked skating and Ciara just watched.
But after seeing a Spanish national skateboarder personally, she took interest in the sport as well.
Ciara stopped hugging me and looked at me in the eyes, tears welling up in hers. "You have us okay? It's fine to depend on us!"
Luis nodded his head and took his chance to hug me, pulling Ciara in for the group hug. After a few moments of the comfort hug, we sat down on the benches near the skate bowl, where a lot of people are using it as usual.
"Man, this is gonna be a huge upset for Barcelona though, and the whole skateboarding community.." Luis said from beside me, as I was in between him and Ciara.
The surname 'Alire' was well known in the whole of Barcelona, my father was the son of two people from a family of peninsulares, an aristocratic spanish family.
But he was a free man, and loved skateboarding more anything.
He was gifted in the sport, and went all over the world to compete with equally gifted skaters. Until he met mother when he went to Japan, mesmerized by each other's beauty, and the whims of young people in their twenties.
They had me.
My father wanted marriage to take responsibility, and mother wanted nothing to regret. So she didn't marry him, and didn't accept me. Then suddenly she wanted me back to her, only to use me.
They say love gives you happiness, excitement, warmth and sadness. But most of all, the deeper you dive in, the more it blinds you.
'It was just on a whim, just a one-night stand, just because two people were horny that night.'
Father continued what he loved to do despite the heartbreak, all the while raising me. He skateboarded until his legs became cripple, and his health deteriorated due to addiction to smoking.
I despised people who smoked afterwards, and even Ainosuke knew that, but still smoked to provoke me.
'Though it's fine by me if it's him, so he can finally fucking go to hell-'
"Ciara, Luis. I'll be going back to Japan after the funeral." I told them, making them flinch in response.
"You're not gonna stay here? Why? You don't like us anymore?" Ciara questioned simultaneously, not giving me a chance to answer first.
"I left someone back there, you see."
Luis' head shot up looking at me suspiciously. "Is it a guy?"
I nodded my head, the two of them jumped up, alerting me.
"You have a boyfriend?!"
"No! Where the hell did you get that idea?! He's a child!"
The look in their faces only got more horrified when I said that. "You have a child?!"
"No!"
I made them sit down and told them about the boy I basically took in as my student, the red haired ball of sunshine, Reki.
Wanting to watch over him more, doing what he loves to do. Just like how my father watched over me doing what I came to love, and what he loves.
I wished to see Reki enjoy it more.
