Sesshomaru's eyes darted towards her. Although his emotionless face held no clue to the curiosity brewing in his mind.

"How dare you speak to Lord Sesshomaru with such sass! You know better Rin!" Jaken exclaimed.

At the sound of the imp's voice, Rin immediately broke any sense of restraint or pride. She turned around to face the great dog demon, completely aloof to her previous demeanor.

"Good evening Lord Sesshomaru. I hope your trip went well. It must have been fairly important for you to leave so abruptly. It's been a long time since you've taken to your patrols and I completely understand the urgency in which you left. I wish I could've joined you, but I'm glad Jaken was there to accompany you so I know you wouldn't be alone, what good would I be anyway, even with these extra gifts and I'd only get in the way, after all... I am still only a hu..."

"RIn." He promptly stated. "There is something we need to discuss"

She stared at him blankly and then continued, "That's great, I would love to have that discussion. I promised I would join the others for dinner tonight so I was wondering if you didn't mind that we talk afterward. Kagome and Sango would be very disappointed if I were to be late and I wouldn't want to be rude. Kagome said she would make this tasty dish from her time just for me, it has rolled rice, raw fish, vegetables, and the sauce is made up of..."

"Rin! What are you talking about girl! Quit your rambling, Lord Sesshomaru does not have time to entertain these human cultures. Don't forget that he despises all humans and thinks there terribly disgusting creatures! How dare you think that he would wait on filthy humaaaaaah!"

$%!!@%!!

Jaken had immediately been silenced by the wrath of Sesshomaru's fist. The Imp spoke the truth, but perhaps his words added more weight to the tension in the air.

"But I'm... Human..." Rin looked down and then turned her attention back to the village. "I know that I am no longer the same, I see my reflection and sometimes I don't recognize myself... But deep down I know what is an absolute fact... I'm still only human..."

She wiped away the tears forming in her eyes. The reminder that Sesshomaru hated the true nature of what she was stung. How could he not? It only made sense. Her childhood rambling had become one of her coping mechanisms to deal with certain truths that have always presented themselves. She never took it so personally before because he never treated her with disgust or hate. Now that she was older she understood more than ever what it really meant.

"I will join you and Inuyasha's mate." He didn't know what made him come to the conclusion of accompanying her and subjecting himself to a small space between humans and his half-breed brother, but something told him it would please her. He smelled the saltiness building up in her eyes before she rid of her oncoming tears and didn't understand what triggered them in the first place.

"YOU WILL? But Lord Sesshomaru.." Jaken intervened.

"SILENCE JAKEN!" He glared down at the now petrified little imp moments before joining rin in her view of the village. "Do not expect me to be patient with Inuyasha and the others."

A wide smile spread over RIns face.

"Really?! You would join us?! How Kagome would love that !" She couldn't contain her excitement.

"Hm." He replied.

"SESSHOMARU's coming!" Inuyasha was not pleased.

"So what Inuyasha, you act like he hasn't stayed for dinner before" Kagome replied.
