"That story you told Maru about the maiden... Well... *Cough* I think you've found her"

"I see privacy was not exactly a priority of yours" They both smiled at each other. He continued "If we stay there's no telling what will happen in the next life...

"and what of Maru?" Rin interrupted. "This is the first time that life has given us a child... Something that I may not be able to do freely without that child suffering from ridicule and hate outside this world. This life has proven that not all the lives we were given have been cruel."

"Rin... I want to give those things to you. Just not here... Not anymore... This life is nothing but a beautiful dream, but it's time to wake up. We can no longer stay on the chance that we will be provided such privileges again... I've seen you die so many times and Im just..."

"With each death brought new life did it not!? If I die out there or you do then we won't get a second chance... Here we have the freedom to live a normal life... Why cant you see that?"

"We are far from normal Rin! We both have duties to uphold!"

"Then you go back! You need to fulfill your duties more than you need me it seems!"

'..."

"That's not it Rin and you know it."

He took a deep breath and exhaled.

"If you wish to stay then so be it. I will continue to live here in these cycles until you're ready to come home."

"... You would do that for me?"

"Of course. If that is what you wish. I will stay by your side because that is what one does for the person they love"

Her eyes widened. She wasn't talking to the husband that was assigned to her or the Lord she left behind. This was her Sesshomaru... The one with who she shared every loving moment. It never occurred to her that his memories returned because truth be told she had forgotten all about it. These lives that they lived together one after the other have taken root in her heart so deeply that she started to forget all that has happened in the outside world.

"Look me in my eyes and tell me... What is it that you want my Lord?" she pleaded.

He looked deep into those soft brown orbs of hers and with everything his soul could muster, begged his eyes to convey his feelings.

A tear ran down her cheek.

"Why didn't you tell me that you've come back to me," she asked.

'...'

"I didn't tell you because it was a reminder that I left in the first place. The things that I've done to you..."

"I've forgiven you, my love, so you need to forgive yourself. If you can do that then... We can return home"

He took a deep sigh.

"Agreed"

"It was nice, wasn't it... Living here together." She continued. "Tell Maru to come here, I want to say our goodbyes."

Sesshomaru stood up and went to fetch the small child. He found him sitting under a tree with his head buried in his knees.

"Maru..."

*Sniffs*

"Mommy's awake now isn't she?..."

"Yes. She... We would like to speak with you."
