The day was full of overcast skies and humid air. Anayai sat quietly on the window seal of her room. Thoughts of home and family overtook her. She reminded herself of why she came in the first place.

*Sighs*

(Well he wasn't exactly what I expected, but if It's not like I have a choice)

Anayai grew up in the clouds, where her people were free to roam without any human interference. Her clan was known as one of the most powerful families, but like Sesshomaru's duties, they required certain obligations to be fulfilled as well. She was indeed the product of her family's solution, being the only daughter of the leader it was her only purpose for living.

She never considered herself one of them though, she often thought about the wonders of the world below her. She even snuck out of her palace just to spy on the humans and observe their relations.

(Such mysterious creatures, they live freely with their emotions and love whom they please)

Oh, how she wished those same principles applied to herself. She just wanted to be free of any obligations or status. Her curiosity of the human world was shunned upon of course, especially by her parents. In a form of consistent rebellious acts, she would often run away or completely object to certain responsibilities that were required of her. That is until the threat of annihilation came from a messenger.

{Flashback}

Anyone who refuses this potential union will perish at the hand of my son, once a union is performed, of course, I'll make sure all those who denied him shall be exterminated- It read

"Please Anayai, our whole family is at stake. We only ask you to leave your childish fantasies behind and oblige us this once. This warning is not to be taken likely" Her family pleaded.

She knew it to be true. If she didn't oblige then genocide would follow. She reluctantly agreed to the terms.

"He's not a loving demon Anayai. From what we hear, he keeps to himself and only lets the people surrounding his house be involved. I highly doubt that he would even bother you. All you need to do is be there."

"Why can't I just make him refuse me instead?" She asked.

"We have considered that for your sake, but who's to say he wouldn't slaughter any of the families he disapproved of?"

She hung her head low. The gates of her freedom were getting further and further and she understood full well that she would never have the privilege to cross them now.

{Present}

She didn't want to dwell on it anymore so she went in search of RIn to pick her brain.

***********************************************************************************************RIn was packing a bag filled with herbs and minerals when Anayai interrupted.

"Rin, where are you off too if I might ask?" Anayai questioned.

"Oh good morning Anayai! I'm headed up to the village I sort of grew up in. I picked some fresh herbs from my garden and wanted to drop them off to my friend Kagome." Rin replied.

"A village... Would you mind if I came along? I'm sure Lord Sesshomaru wouldn't mind."

"Um... I guess that would be ok. It can be dangerous to travel so you would have to stick close to me ok?"

Anayai nodded.

The two women headed off into the forest. Anayai rode on Aun while Rin guided them by the two-headed dragon's reins. They were approaching the village when Rin recalled a statement that Sesshomaru's mother had said at dinner.
