(Why in the hell is this happening now? I've been injured here before and she didn't have a scratch. This is bad)
He quickly covered his wound and tended to hers. He grabbed a piece of dry cloth and wrapped it around her hand. As he dressed the bleeding wound he felt a pair of eyes on him. He looked up to see if Rin was staring at him.
There they were those big round glistening orbs staring back into his very soul.
"Just then, I felt something," She said.
" Your injury looks painful so I'm not surprised other than that I know not of what you mean" He replied.
"Strange. I have a feeling that you know exactly what I mean."
She reached for his injured hand as he swiftly moved away from her grasp.
"Fine."
She turned around and grabbed a dagger from his drying clothes.
"I'll show you," she said sternly.
She lightly sliced the side of her cheek while never breaking eye contact with him. They both stared at each other as blood trickled down both their faces. Never breaking the hold on their gazes...
She threw the dagger at his feet.
"Explain" she demanded.
"There's nothing to explain" he replied.
"LIAR!" she shouted.
"Heh. You wouldn't believe me even if I told you."
"Probably not. Given the fact that you've been lying to me this whole time! Who are you!"
"I've told you. My only duty is to protect you. That much you can trust."
"I see I'm not getting any more from you at this point. Just answer me this then and I will drop it. Am I to understand that If you get injured or die then so do I? Also, does that apply vice versa?"
"It appears so"
She stood quiet. Grabbing her dry clothes off the rack, she turned around and smiled.
"I guess we better stay alive than huh?" She chuckled.
He was taken aback by her response and demeanor.
"Do you trust me then?" he asked
"Well I wouldn't exactly call it trust but I have a feeling that I should and when I stare into your eyes it's like I'm meant to see something else or better yet... I'm staring at a ghost. Anyways we should be heading back. It's time for training" she stated.
........................................................................
Back at the training grounds she intently watched him and his fellow soldiers go back and forth.
"Lord Maru! Do me the honor of sparing with me today! I beg of you, I'm ready!" A soldier shouted.
"We shall see" He smirked in response.
As they were sparring an idea came to Rins mind. Not a very nice one but a little payback wouldn't hurt for him keeping something from her. She reached into her hair and grabbed a hairpin. As the soldier attacked Maru one after the other Rin saw the chance to play her little prank. She poked the side of her leg to see if he would react and waited.
(Ok, so that didn't do it. How about this)
She slit her old wound open once more and felt warm liquid drip down her wrist. As she looked back over to see the men fighting she noticed Maru was gone. She leaned over the rail to get a better look and was grabbed at the waist.
