*********Cue the Music and you wont regret it!***********************************************

In that instant, a haze of white light took over Rin's mind. Memories of them together came flooding in. Memory after memory... Each thought he ever had of her, every sight he ever saw her in, and every moment they shared together. Each one was a blow to her heart. Each memory was a painful reminder of what she was sacrificing.

{Memories}

A tree, a dark forest, a child emerging...

Darkness surrounded by death, her cold body, the emptiness he felt, the pain...

Leaving her in the village...

Bringing her home...

Covering her small frame with a blanket outside his room...

Watching her play in the garden...

Listening to her play her flute...

{...}

Her heart was drowning... Her soul was being suffocated... Her mind was in blissful insanity... To know that he loved her so deeply... To know his feelings were always so very present.

{Memories continued}

The sight of her on her birthday...

How beautiful he thought she was...

When she sacrificed her life for him...

When she lept through time... The emptiness he felt, the regret, the sorrow, she felt it all...

His confliction...

And this moment... She felt he was truly happy...

{Memories end}

When she came to the realization that this was the cause for his true happiness, Rin's heart shattered.

(What have I done...)

She savored every last bit of warmth from his lips, she wanted the memory of this moment branded in her heart... Forever in her heart, regardless of the outcome... They will hold a special place if only in her heart and not his. She was truly grateful...

(I'm happy that I got the chance to know you... my love)

As she pulled away from his grasp she refused to look him in his eyes... She knew no matter how hard she searched those golden spheres... She wouldn't find any remnants of their love in them. She called upon the powers of the earth... no, she begged. A gust of blossom-filled winds engulfed her entire body and she vanished into the night sky.

...Sesshomaru felt nothing.

The need to find her, to console her, it was all gone. All that remained was the association he had for nothing more than a companion. He didn't even remember their embrace, the only memory that stood out was the reason why he assumed he came to her in the first place. He had an obligation to fulfill and he wanted her to prepare for the visitations from demon candidates that were about to take place in their home.

He didn't understand why she left so abruptly.

(It's none of my business)

Rin walked down to the end of the beach where the ocean met her feet. She felt every part of her body was drunk with pain. Her vision was blurry and her walk was unsteady. The thought of letting the ocean claim her crossed her mind, but she knew the consequence of such action.
