For the Love of Desolation (Sesshomaru x Rin) *Sequel*

Inconceivable

Rin landed in Inuyasha's village. She didn't know what led her there but she just blindly traveled anywhere. Anywhere away from them...

She walked into Inuyasha and Kagome's home. She looked around and realized that it was completely empty. The gang was obviously at the castle so why did she feel the need to come here? 

*sigh*

Inuyasha and the others were preparing for the trip back home when a light pink orb met them. RIn emerged holding something in her hand. She pushed the item towards Inuyasha's face while uncovering the cloth that wrapped it. 

"Inuyasha... Tell me... What is Maru doing right now?" She asked with shadowed eyes.

"Huh?" He slowly grabbed the mirror and glanced at it, he turned away immediately, "He's playing in a field...." He answered in a low tone.

"... Then you knew about it too..." Rin replied in disappointment.

"Hey I don't know what your talkin about okay!" He shouted. 

"THEN YOU DONT MIND IF I LOOK MYSELF!" She shouted back.

She reached for the mirror to face it towards herself. 

In that instant, she felt the strong grasp of arms holding her. It was him... Sesshomaru stood over her staring at Inuyasha. 

"Do not be a fool," He looked back down at her, "You know what will happen if you do."

"I DON'T CARE! Why would you keep this from me..." she digressed.

"I would rather prioritize the things that can be helped over things that can not." He responded, "There was nothing that I could do for him..." 

... "You should've just told me. " She replied in a defeated tone.

"What good would have come from it. Your mind is already fragile enough, I did not want to contribute." He replied.

"..." 

Her eyes started to glisten.

"Then... He cant be saved? She asked.

"When a soul returns to this world, they have a choice to reunite with the afterlife. Maru... He was not of this world anymore when he became a part of the mirror. Unlike us, he did not have a vessel waiting for him, so he returned to the mirror. That choice now, is no longer is an option for him." He replied.

"So what do we do?" she asked.

"The least we can do is free him" he replied, "His soul will wander but at the very least... He will no longer be in any torment." 

Rin nodded in agreement.

The others were informed of the releasing spell and the requirements to set the souls free from the mirror. Miroku and Kagome gathered all the supplies needed to perform the spell. They all regrouped on the shore of a beach in a more southern part of the land. They decided it was the most fitting place to send off the spirits to the afterlife. The group waited until sundown to complete the spell, as far a more smooth journey for the spirits to find their way. 

Sesshomaru stood on a cliff that overlooked the ocean. He listened to the sound of the waves crash against the rocks below him. He closed his eyes to the scent of saltiness entering his nose.
