The sound of her restless breath and her increased heartbeat flooded his ears. Rin struggled to get out of his grasp, this position was no longer one of comfort, but one of traumatized memories. She ceased her struggle when she realized his last words.

(Best part?)

"Look at me Rin." He said softly.

Her eyes were shaded. She couldn't bear to look him in his eyes. She couldn't bear to see the emptiness in his heart. He would break her and she knew she didn't have the strength to put herself together again.

"I cant."

"I demand you"

"I WONT!"

"You choose now to disobey me over such a trivial request."

"..."

"and you continue the disrespect with your silence."

"Im sorry... "

His eyes shadowed. "Rin... Have you forsaken me as well."

He loosened his grip and shifted his body to release her. She sat still and looked up to see he was standing. Something in her mind panicked. Had she done something wrong? Without her full emotions she couldn't comprehend the weight of the situation.

"Would you at least accompany me" he asked.

She nodded and followed him.

He led her to a snow-covered bridge in the castle's garden. The pond underneath that was once filled with life was now completely frozen. The snowfall was light and the moon shined bright enough to illuminate the scenery. He chose to take her to the place where he vowed to take her as his wife. The place where he was truly happy.

"Do you know what took place here..." he asked.

"This is the garden area of the castle so I would assume much has taken place"

"This place holds a great significance to me now."

"Is it because it is the most beautiful part of the garden?"

"It was... once."

"Come spring, it will be again"

He looked up towards the moon taking in her response. As if what she said was a premonition of their future.

"The beauty of this place remains, but the sentiment behind it has been forgotten," he stated

Rin's face showed a hint of concern and confusion.

"How could the sentiment be truly forgotten?" She asked.

He turned his attention to her face, which was now admiring the moon as well. Her beauty was as radiant as ever.

"There is a difference between one being forced and one choosing to forget."

The memories of his and her outlook on that day meshed together in his mind. Although that was the happiest moment of his life, he felt the pain she endured.

"... The one who chooses would be the last to remember..." he continued.

She pondered on his words...

Was there some hidden meaning behind them? Why couldn't she place it? Could it be... Does he remember? She didn't know if asking him was a good idea. If she asked and he denied, then that would open a new string of interrogation from him. She turned to speak to him but was met with his piercing golden eyes. She could tell his face was flushed from the alcohol, but most importantly it was the way he looked at her.
