It looked like a fairly well developed area, houses with big backyards and space for their pets to run around. I didn't know what I expected from the area but i didn't expect this. The house was on the edge of the gated community, bigger than the rest. The front had traditional sliding doors and the backyard seemed so spacious, it looked like an ideal place for a family to raise a child.

"I know nothing about the history but if an onryo is here, it would mean something happened. One hundred percent," Kento said, casually removing his shoes by the gate. We followed him, Kyungsoo sniffing the air. "I would be careful if I were you."

His voice droned out in the background, Chanyeol and Kai engaging into conversation with him when I entered the house first. It had a nice amount of sunlight in the day time, my eyes going to the very steep staircase.

"Japanese are very into cutting down spatial waste. I know Westerners like big spiral staircases but for the japanese, we like to minimize the space used." He went to the stairs, running his hands over the side when I noticed that there were holes. He slipped his hand into one of the holes and tugged it, showing us that they were cabinets. '"Steep Kaidan Dansu. Cool, right?"

"Scary, more like it." Kai answered. "Imagine falling down those stairs."

"Death to you," Kento replied and I glanced up on the second floor when I heard a sound, the same running footsteps from the hotel. There was a movement and the jerk of my head had gained attention from Kento, the male pointing upstairs. "You want me to..."

"Yeah, I'm fine. I'll head upstairs for a bit."

I believed that the child wasn't dangerous and with Kento around, he may scare him away. I slowly walked up the steep stairs, my knees wobbling with the difference of height between each chair.

I stopped on the second floor, looking at the many empty rooms when the sound of footsteps stopped. I craned my head around, wondering where he went when I heard a soft sound of someone knocking on wood then a giggle.

More footsteps.

I slowly walked towards the source of the sound, seeing that it was empty except a wooden wardrobe. The doors of the wardrobe were closed, the knocking intensifying from the inside when I took a step closer.

"Hello?" I whispered, my voice coming out cracked when the knocking slowed down into a rhythm. One knock, two knocks, three knocks, four.

I wrapped my fingers around the handle, the creaking agonizingly suspenseful when I finally yanked it open, black hollow eyes peering at me from the inside. I gasped, the little kid rushing out of the wardrobe towards me and I lost my footing, falling backwards on the ground when he went through me and disappeared.

I lay on the ground, my heart hammering in my chest when Kento's could be heard coming up the stairs, asking me if I was alright.

"What are you doing on the floor?" He asked, frowning at me when I stood up, dusting myself off. "Checking the solidity?"
