Week of Halloween, October Break
A few months after and it was the week of Halloween.
Everyone seemed to be happy, October break quickly approaching, and soon, all of us would get a week off. While everyone laughed and played, I noticed Minseok gradually growing distant from the group and I would always see him staring into space like he had something on his mind.
We helped a few ghosts, here and there and I found him the day before the break, thumbing through his notebook. He was muttering to himself, his lips pressed against each other as he sighed. He didn't notice my presence and I felt the urge to ask him what was wrong, Minseok finally turning to see me standing by the entrance of the club room.
"Minseok?"
He gave me a tired smile and I decided against it, entering the room to head towards the board. Moon Tae-il had come in a period before in order to give us the information on our daily budget. My eyes on the numbers when I asked him if he wasn't going for lunch.
"I will," he told me, standing up to take his leave when I called his name once more. "Yeah?"
"If there is anything that is bothering you, you know you can talk to me, right?"
My words made him freeze and for a moment, I thought I caught an expression of weakness but it quickly hardened and he nodded.
"I'm rather hungry. I guess I'll have lunch. Have a happy October break, Bora." He quickly quipped and I smiled at him, the sound of footsteps approaching the clubroom. I saw Sehun and Harin walk in, both of them snickering and I raised an eyebrow.
They have been quite close recently and were always together. I knew Sehun kind of liked Harin but I wasn't sure the girl returned the same feelings—she was a sweet girl. Sweet to everyone and that was why it was hard to read. Sehun, on the other hand, didn't act this way to the many women he had interacted with.
"Oh, Noona!" Sehun greeted me and I smiled at both of them. "Aren't you eating lunch?"
"I had a sandwich," I told him, asking him what plans he had for the October break.
"Nothing. But Noona, are you free on Halloween? We're thinking of going to party..." His voice trailed off. "I mean, parties. Every Halloween night, there are so many parties to go to. It's actually pretty fun."
I chuckled, shaking my head.
"Ah, not one for parties, Sehun."
"Well, I expected as much. Can we bring Baekhyun, then?" He asked and I found myself nodding. "Nice! It's on October 31st."
"On Halloween?" A deep voice asked and Kyungsoo walked in, Matthew right beside him. He seemed exhausted and upon asking him, he said that he had two exams today. That and Rocky were barking the whole night. Sometimes, I forgot Kyungsoo was just as much of a student as he was a handler. "A lot of ghosts are going to be running rampant on Halloween, too."
