With the tournament going to commercial break, each paramedic exits my dressing room to allow me some time to think. Mom, Cammy and Hobi watch as I slowly rise from the couch in my under layers consisting of a vest, half-leggings and bandages securing my waist to protect the fresh stitches. But Hobi quickly catches my balance when I hold my rib with a hiss.

"Woah, easy."

"Hobi, I'm fine— Agh... Pass me my costume."

"Honey, please think about this. You have only 15 minutes to decide if you want to go back out there, but at what cost? It's not safe to fight when you're injured."

The worry in my mom's voice makes me look down at my wound and run my fingers along the bandages. I then close my eyes and hold my head with a stressful groan.

Hobi notices the frustration in my face before shaking his head. "Ms. Li, I know you're just looking out for your daughter's health but you don't understand how hard she's trained for this. It wouldn't be fair to give Viper exactly what she wanted."

"Right!" Cammy adds, "You're up against Taehyung for a reason. You both deserve this more than anyone. You have to go through with it."

My brows frown in conflict. It's like there's two voices battling out in my mind. I know I shouldn't put my body through harm like this but... I have to try, right? If Viper truly felt that she couldn't beat me, then she did this to take me down with her. So neither of us could win. I can't let her have that...

"We'll give you some time with your Mom. Come on Cam." Hobi takes Cammy's wrist and leads her out.

The silence of the room engulfs my mother and I as we stare at each other's similar features longingly. Not an awkward silence, but a telepathic one...

It doesn't take long for us to run into each other's arms.

Just her scent alone sparks a burst of nostalgic memories that I'd held onto all these years. Memories of admiring her and Dad when we all lived together happily. I bury my face into Mom's shoulder and scrunch her clothes whilst sniffing back my tears.

"I missed you so much Mom... You have no idea how hard it's been. I'm sorry we're reuniting like this..."

She pushes back my shoulders to get a good look at my tear-ridden face before smiling lightly. Despite her frail weight and the nasal cannulas plugging her nose, my Mom's familiar smile proves that she's still as beautiful as ever.
