"Mei dear, would you bring these potatoes to Mr. Wong's store? Careful, they're heavy!"
"I've got it." I confidently lift the wooden crate of sacks. Gramma presses her palms together in gratitude.
"Thank you darling. You know I'd do it, but I don't think this ol' back has much fighting left in her." She laughs and rubs her spine, making me laugh too.
"Don't worry about it, I'll be back soon!"
With no official training class today, I figured I'd start my day with lots of homework before helping Gramma and Pa as much as I can with the noodle shack. The dojo's still open for anyone to come in and train, so I'll likely make a stop there later.
After five minutes, I approach the familiar neighbor stall to see Mr. Wong bent over as he sorts out his shelf of vegetables, looking overworked as usual and wearing a straw cone hat to protect his face from the sun.
"Hi Mr. Wong, my Gramma says thank you for the potatoes. We had these left over."
"Ah, yes yes, put down there. Away from the sun." He fans his hand.
A strained grunt leaves my teeth as I manage to lower the crate in position and dust my hands together.
"Wow, 8 sacks. You're stronger than I thought."
The familiar and fluent voice makes my eyes widen before I spin on my heel to see Jungkook, dressed in more village clothes and wearing a straw cone to disguise his face. How does this keep happening??
"Jung—!" I almost squeal his name but cover my mouth. "W-What are you doing down here?"
"Just passing through the marketplace. I like your overalls."
I speechlessly look down at my clothing consisting of oversized dungarees with mismatched patches stitched over the holes, along with bamboo sandals. "O-oh no this isn't fashion, I'm just... Poor."
Jungkook chuckles at my transparency.
"So what are you doing right now?"
"Well I was just delivering this crate for my Gramma as my final task for the day. Then I was gonna spend the rest of the day training."
