With no school for the weekend and an open morning schedule, I make my way through the crowded marketplace footpath. Cammy said she wanted to have breakfast together at Mrs. Zhung's cafe and offered to pay for everything. Of course, it would be foolish to reject anything free.
The store holds a red temple-like exterior with paper banners that hang low and blow in the breeze, illustrated with Chinese symbols while steam blows from the steel food cart out front. I step through the cafe's beaded curtain and immediately get bombarded by the scent of all things sweet. French toast... Waffles...
"Mei, over here!" Cammy waves.
I follow suit and sit opposite her, our small booth located by the window, "Hey."
But my brows furrow when I notice our breakfasts are already set on the table. A bowl of low-sugar fruits for me and for Cammy, stacked pancakes with maple syrup.
"You ordered already?"
"Yes! The lady just placed it. Eat up!"
I return Cammy a slow, questionable look as she watches me with an almost robotic smile. Stabbing my chopsticks into some melon, I ultimately pause and squint at her.
"Why aren't you eating yours?"
"Oh um... I'm not hungry."
"But you just ordered it."
"Okay fine! I'm not a good liar, you win... This dish isn't for me."
"Then who—?"
"I invited Taehyung and Jimin to join us without telling you. They'll be here any minute please don't hit me!" She quickly flinches.
"You WHAT?!"
"Wait, please don't leave!" Cammy's arms reach over when I attempt to stand up.
"Cammy, why would you set me up to talk to him after the way he behaved yesterday?!"
"Because it was all my fault okay?! I accidentally told Taehyung that you and Jungkook were dating because I heard from Ibuki who heard from Makato who heard from Sakura who said that she was certain she saw you on a date together."
