Dahlia's POV:

"Daddy!~" I shrieked as I ran up to my father after finishing playing.

He grunted like an old man as he lifted me up with his big arms.

"How's my little princess?" He asked.

I tried to respond, but his constant tickling left me only able to giggle as I tried to get him to stop.

My dad can be such a dork sometimes.

One time, while he was telling us one of his epic tales, he seemed like he was about to say something, and then as he had a thought, he angrily yelled towards the sky.

I had no clue what in the world he was thinking, but I still loved him anyway.

Mother was usually very busy cooking, cleaning, doing house chores, etc.

Despite this, she still made time for me and my sister.

Speaking of my sister.

Lily is my twin and we're both half-human, half-dragon.

Yep~ My daddy is actually a really strong dragon, and my mother is a human.

Apparently, not long after we were born, our father saved the world and became a god.

It's one of the most told stories from him.

But I like some of his other ones, like how he met mommy and acted like a hero in front of her.

I guess even if he didn't realize it, he had wanted to woo her from the very beginning, hehe.

As my father and I were talking I noticed Lily twiddling with her thumbs while staring out at nothing.

Father noticed this too and couldn't help but look defeated as he commented.

"To think you were such a quiet child when you were born, and your sister was the loud one. I have no idea how you two girls ended up like this."

I scratched my cheek, it would be a little awkward to tell him.

Anyway, I went over to Lily and asked her if she was ok.

She just meekly nodded her head and continued to stare at the wall.

Hmph.

This won't do.

I grabbed her by the arm and brought her over to where me and father were playing.

"Let's all play something!" I shouted.

Both father and Lily gave me a helpless look before relenting to my demand.

We played a game called scrabble.

Lily beat both me and father.

How can she know such big words when she rarely talks?

We continued to play the game for hours until mother said it was time for dinner.

Father doesn't really need to eat, but he says he enjoys the atmosphere so he joins us anyway.

As he we were laughing, eating and just enjoying each others company, an uninvited guest arrived.

"Hello~" A man said in front of the door.

I looked towards father and saw he had an ugly expression.

He muttered something under his breath, but I couldn't hear what it was.

He as he answered the door, my eyes went wide.

Why was he here?

He looked straight at me and gave a wink.

Oh no.

I had a bad feeling about this.

He looked back towards father and began talking to him.

"How's life been treating ya?~" He asked.

"Good." Father replied.

"That's nice~" He said, before turning his attention to me and my sister.

"My, how big you've grown~ Come and give your uncle a hug~" He exclaimed.

Ugh.

I hid behind mother.

As he came closer, father whacked him on the head and exclaimed.

"Who's uncle are you!"

Good going dad!

Lily surprisingly seemed ok with this person.

I wonder, is she perhaps like me?

The man simply laughed as he answered father's question.

"I suppose I never told you~" He said.

He whispered something into father's ear and his eyes grew big as they locked directly onto me.

Father didn't seem to upset by whatever he was told, but simply asked for me to talk with him in private.

In a private room where no one could hear us, father leaned on the old rocking chair that was collecting dust.

"Come sit." He gestured.

I nodded nervously.

He took out a fancy hair brush and began combing my hair.

"Is it true?" He asked.

I could only guess what that shitty guy had told him.

"Is what true?" I asked, trying my best to sound innocent.

Father then whispered into my ear.

"Are you the previous goddess of reincarnation?" He asked.

My whole body trembled.

I didn't want things to turn out like this.

I couldn't deny it however.

Because it was true.

I was once known as the goddess of reincarnation, and helped many souls find the place where they belonged.

But, I had grown tired of that life.

So, I did what I thought best.

I gave up my position and my uncle took over the job.

That was something I had no regrets with, at least at the time.

Now though, this is my third reincarnation since and I've noticed how poorly managed the souls have been with him.

There was nothing I could do about it though, I had already forsaken the life of a god and had no room to object to his methods.

I explained these things to father, who simply kept grooming my hair as he listened silently to my story.

When I was done, I was worried he'd be conflicted.

But, however, he was quite calm.

He explained to me that he too was reincarnated and that my uncle was indeed a shitty god.

He explained the full events of the stories he had told us countless times, but with the parts he had intentionally left out.

I couldn't help but relax as he told me those stories, it felt like a long time before he had finished.

But, even so, his voice had a tranquil feeling in it that led me to simply relax and drift off to sleep, without any worry.
