I was already late for the Moon Ceremony. Hal had wanted us to go out together to eat at a popular restaurant near the school, but I had no intention of eating that food and decided ahead of time that I would only go for the ceremony thing. When I heard someone's hands on the brick of my building, I breathed in quickly, but relaxed when I detected a hint of Wolfgang's scent. When I looked over at the window, he was standing there with a smile on his face.

"Hey." He said quietly. I panicked and looked at my bedroom door.

"What are you doing?" I whispered in alarm. "Get out!" I hissed at him. "My mom's home."

"Sor-ry, I thought you'd want to get something to eat."

"Well, I'm hungry, but my mom will notice I'm gone!" He gave me a look. I could practically hear him calling me lame. I paused for a moment looking into his eyes, which were alight with something like a challenge.

"Fine!" I relented. He smiled, stepped back outside, and slid down to the grass. I looked at my closed bedroom door before climbing down after him. We ran through the woods carelessly. The scents were swirling around me making my head spin. Some of them I recognized and others I didn't. Before I knew it, there was a tawny body being dropped at my feet, its bright reddish-purple insides spilling out of its hind end.

Thanks, I said surprised. I was so absorbed in watching Wolf chase the deer that I didn't bother to hunt for myself. When we were finished, we sat watching the sky. The sun was beginning to set. When did you become a Lycan? I asked him, giving in to my curiosity again.

A long time ago. He answered me, making me roll my Lycan-eyes.

Suddenly, we heard something. I started to turn and run but stopped when Wolf went towards the sound. I went to his side, so close we were almost touching. Panic had risen in my heart and pounded through my arteries. There was a distinct Vampyre smell. It wasn't Jack. Just like a horror movie, a humanoid monster appeared out of the night about twelve yards from us. I watched in shock as his eyes fixed on us and his head twitched to the side and then back like an insane ghost before darkness seemed to spread across his face. With his shoulders hunched reminding me of a threatened cat, he seemed to get immediately fierce, a hissing sound escaping him as he bore his narrow white fangs and his face seemed to become sharper featured, with his eyes surrounded by darkness with dark capillaries appearing on his face. His sclera turned as black as his pupils which were defined only by amber irises. My eyes were glued to him while I rifled through my mind in search of the best course of action. As I focused on his dark, trench-coat adorned shape I suddenly saw a gold mist rolling off his back as if water was evaporating off him into gold steam. When I blinked, it disappeared. He looked small but I was terrified of him instinctually with his bright yellow glowing irises. He looked like a real Demon to me, one straight from hell.

Wolf flew at him with his teeth bared and suddenly I felt something sharp jump on my back and bite the nape of my neck. I shuddered and thrashed, bolting out from under the other Vampyre. Immediately, there was one more emerging from the forest on my left. The one that had been on my back lunged at me again but I dodged it, trying to avoid getting closer to the other one too. I couldn't remove my gaze from the crazed hostility in his inhuman eyes and when the third Vampyre ran towards me, I bolted away. I could feel them following me. When one got my foot, I fell to the ground and scrambled up.

"You're such a pretty Lycan." One of them said smiling an evil smile. "I'm gunna rip your head off, pretty Lycan." He spat at me in a horrible deep, snarling voice like a really crazy person. I was filled with shock and nerves when he came at me and was sharply aware that I was fighting for my life. I bit his shoulder as hard as I could through his thick coat. I could feel him struggle and his tough bones ground against each other in my mouth. They felt much tougher than the deer bones. The other hit against my ribs, knocking me over and knocking my breath out. It felt like being hit by a train and I distinctly heard my ribs crack. My breath was still gone when I struggled to my feet. I could tell they were playing with me. They were laughing as they walked towards me, their sclera had turned white again, but their irises continued to glow, one red, the other orange. There was no blood where I bit the Vampyre and I was beginning to think he had none.
