I woke up early in the morning and had to wait around for my mom to wake up and then she 'woke' me up too. She came swooping into my room with a bright red skirt and a tight white blouse to tell me that Johnny would be coming over for Christmas like he had for the last few years. I decided to wear a semi-formal white dress that I hadn't worn before because I thought it would be Christmas-y. I trotted into the living room to see the boxes wrapped in brightly colored paper under the tinsel coated fake white tree that my mom and I had wrapped in multi-colored Christmas lights.

"Yay! Presents!" I sung as I joined my mom in the kitchen.

"Johnny'll be here at 10 and then we'll open presents and start making breakfast!" my mom told me cheerily as she faced the coffee-maker.

"I'm excited!" I told my mom with renewed happiness. She spun to look at me and I saw her eyebrows raise at my outfit choice.

"Me too. That dress looks great on you!" She praised, as she joined me on the couch and I flipped on the TV to wait.

Johnny came right on time with reusable bags full of presents that we placed under the tree to admire. We ate a short breakfast that we all made together. Johnny broiled the bacon, I made the toast and set the table, and my mom made the eggs and sausage. I was relieved to find that I didn't have to force my food down and could almost enjoy my breakfast. We opened our presents after that. Johnny had gotten me a cool red Canon camera and he seemed to like the Fedora I had gotten him. My mom sure did. My mom got me some nice clothes from expensive stores that I never had enough money to shop at like H&M and Top Shop and I gave her the sparkly midnight blue pendant on a sterling silver chain that I had gotten her at a hippie-type, Wicca store. Johnny had gotten my mom some fancy candles and a cashmere sweater and my mom gave Johnny a few dress shirts and some designer jeans that reminded me of some Jack had.

"Did you get something for Jack?" my mom asked, glancing at the emptiness under the tree.

"Yeah, I got him a watch." I told her. "It's in my room."

"Nice, where did you find the money to get that?" she asked with a suspicious smile.

"I had to use my savings." I shrugged.

"So, we're still on for going to the La Bleu Chat tonight, right?" Johnny asked my mother.

"Yes! Of course!" she answered.

"Well, should I make the reservations for three or four?" he asked, gesturing to me and referring to Jack.

"Four." I answered, taking out my phone and prancing back to my room to call Jack.

Jack showed up to my house looking spiffy in black pants and a white collared shirt and his eyes glowed as he looked down at my dress.

"You look beautiful." He said with a bright white smile, making me blush.

"Thanks. You're not too bad yourself." I told him with a silly wink that made him laugh.

"Nice to see you again, Ms. Cochren, John." Jack bowed his head at my mom and Johnny as I took his hand and led him into the other room.

"Jack, you can call me Anna." My mom said lightly, as I handed Jack the black box with the shiny black watch with gold numbers that I had bought him.

"I didn't wrap it." I confessed as he opened the black leather box. His face showed his surprise and he pulled me into a hug with a smile.

"It's awesome! Thank you, Baby." He murmured into my hair, before he let go to slip it on his wrist. "I suck at wrapping, so I didn't wrap yours either." He reached into his pocket and took out a gold necklace with a sharp crystal pendant.
