Heat

My eyes opened to a dark room. Jack's dark hunched figure stood near the foot of the bed. I stifled a gasp and my glowing eyes narrowed, focusing on Jack like spears. His eyes were far away, and his arms hung limp by his sides.

"You gonna kill me?" I whispered, filtering all emotion from my voice before it met the still air. I sat up on my elbows for a moment, waiting for him to say anything. His red eyes moved slowly to meet mine and as usual, I couldn't read his expression. I felt anger well up in me and sprang off the bed towards him. He flinched and stepped back as I grabbed the front of his shirt. My nails had turned to claws and I felt them rip through his shirt and stab into my palm. My fangs elongated in my mouth and his were visible as his mouth fell open in surprise. "Why don't you just get it over with?" I challenged him. He pulled away from me and my claws ripped through his shirt as he escaped out through my window. I threw the rag of his shirt on the floor along with a spattering of blood from my palm. I only took half a breath before I decided to launch myself out the window after him. I could smell his path as clear as day and I phased closing the distance between us. He was quick and I only barely caught him, phasing back as I landed on him, I pushed him to the ground. I saw a twinge of fear in his eyes and he clenched his jaw as he looked up at me.

"What do you want from me?!" I yelled at him with tears coming to my eyes. I stared down at him, with a hand on each of his shoulders. He sat up slowly and his face passed mine as if he was embracing me.

"I didn't do anything." He whispered solemnly near my ear with his cheek against mine. I froze, letting him get out from under me slowly. He stood up as I sat on my knees on the cold forest floor. I was fuming when he asked, "What's the matter?" I contemplated my next action, staring down into the frozen dirt. He held his hand out to me. I took it, feeling the whirlwind of hormones and feelings of frustration pound in my heart. He pulled me up as I smelled them coming. I looked up at Jack and could tell from his expression that he knew they were coming too. We stood our ground as Hal, Nina, and Tobi appeared in human form. The boy named Tobi was instantly enraged. I was almost excited that he might phase and I knew I still wore a dangerous expression on my face. I grabbed Jack's hand before he could run. I knew he wanted to.

"Calm down, Brother." Hal said to Tobi, putting a hand on his shoulder as he stepped past him towards me. Tobi breathed heavily, his green eyes looking sick and focused on me. His jaw hung open and he drooled on his yellow fangs. Nina's eyes were green too and she clutched her ribs as if holding herself together to prevent from phasing. Hal's light green eyes had been on Jack, but moved to me when I grabbed Jack's hand. "What are you doing?!" He asked as if I was someone he cared about who had turned into a lunatic and betrayed him. His tone made me even angrier than I already was and I felt a new wave of heat escape my nose, mouth, and eyes as I stared at him.

"Fuck off!" I barked at him.

"Well, somebody's PMS-ing." Wolfgang said as he joined us and leapt down from the tree he had been hiding in.

"Oh, shut up!" I mumbled, realizing with embarrassment that he was right, and that I shouldn't have been so angry for no reason. I looked at Jack before deliberately letting go of his hand. He took two slow steps back and then was gone in an instant and left Wolf and me with the other Lycans.

"You're the Lycan that's been in our territory!" Nina accused Wolf.

"Your territory?" he challenged. He let out a threatening, almost crazy laugh and I watched them shudder slightly in its wake. I had begun to calm down and sort of wanted to get them all to phase to see what they looked like. "I think this is our territory, don't you, Silver?" he asked me.
