I woke up when Jack tapped my thigh.
"Hey, Baby, wake up." He whispered against my forehead. I felt his breath against the bridge of my nose and was reluctant to pull my cheek away from his smooth neck. I opened my eyes to see that we were in a dim, unfamiliar room. Then I saw Jess get up from the sectional and remembered that we had come over for Christmas. The movie had just ended. It was 9:30 pm, Caelan's bedtime, and apparently mine too. I knew my mom would want Jack to leave and I started to prematurely ache at the thought of him leaving.
"Don't leave me." I told him tightening my grip on him before looking up into his eyes. He didn't say anything for a moment, then he sighed. I suddenly remembered the others in the room and sat up straighter, taking my face off Jack to glance around the room. Everyone in the room looked a little more slumped than they did before I fell asleep. I snickered at Caelan who had fallen asleep in a sitting position with her head sinking into her shoulders like she was a pile of apples that was delicately placed so that it wouldn't collapse. I heard my mom coming down the hall, so I slid off Jack and stood up feeling my eyes adjust to the light and the rest of my senses return to me as I felt my surroundings with my chakra. Marisol and Kate followed her in, assessing the situation. Jacob had stood up, Beth had whipped out her phone, and Jess was putting the DVD away.
"It's time to go to bed." Marisol said in a light voice to Caelan, stretching her arms down around Caelan's little floppy body. Her eyes fluttered open and then closed as her mother lifted her with effort and carried her out into the hallway towards the stairs.
"I'm gonna go." Jack told me, standing up and stretching sexily. I let my eyes drink in the sight of him as I stood motionless. My eyes travelled down him and then back up to meet his eyes. He had a smirk on his lips and I guessed my expression showed the dirty thoughts I was thinking.
"Silver?" my mom called.
"Huh?" I made a sound, before snapping out of my infatuation with my boyfriend to look at her.
"Can I talk to you?" she asked. For a second, I thought I was in trouble, but then I just realized she was going to tell me that Jack had to go home.
"Uh-huh." I murmured as I followed her to the side while everyone started moving into the kitchen. I saw Beth texting furiously for someone to pick her up and Jack and Jess were the last two to leave the room after her.
"Johnny and I are going to be in the guest room on the main floor and you'll be sleeping in Jess's room." She told me. I nodded. "Can you make sure Jack leaves soon?" she asked, trying to sound polite. "You don't think he'll be too tired to drive?" she asked, realizing her mistake.
"No, he's leaving right now." I said glancing through the doorway to the hallway. Jack was leaning on the wall in the hallway waiting for me. I knew he could hear everything we were saying and he made eye contact with me, which told me he was listening.
"Okay. That's good." She murmured. "I'm going to go get ready for bed. You're old enough to get yourself ready." She said waving a hand. The other mothers were running around getting their kids to start brushing their teeth and put on their pajamas.
"Yeah," I agreed as we both left the room and went down the hall. Jack had gotten cornered by Jess and Jacob, while Beth joined them with a frustrated look on her face.
"My mom is going to take a while." She told them.
"Where do you live?" Jack asked. Beth looked up at him with surprise.
"Uh, down Woodburne Road. Like 20 minutes from here." She answered.
"I can drive you." He shrugged.
