When I heard the sirens, my heart began to race.
"Shit." I could hear the tinge of excited anticipation in Damien's voice and briefly saw the smirk on his face before Cassidie and Scarlet leaped over to turn off the spotlights. We stepped back from our masterpiece that was bursting with blue, grey, black, and silver on the large brick canvas and we dropped our empty spray cans as Damien snatched up the lights.
"We gotta go!" Cassidie squealed in anxiety as her boyfriend, Milo took her hand and yanked her toward the far end of the alleyway at an urgent pace. We all had our own route to take so that the police wouldn't catch us all. It was a well-planned maneuver that hadn't failed us yet and I had one of the hardest routes that took me right on the main road past the cop cars. I moved determinedly in tandem with my boyfriend towards the opening of the alleyway.
"Run fast, baby." Alex murmured quietly before we both braved the alleyway opening where the blue lights were getting closer along with the impending doom of the sirens. The moment was slowed in my mind as I looked over to see the light bounce off his serious blue eyes. The shape of him and look of his intense eyes was burned into my memory in that quick moment. I wanted to kiss him and a smile curled my lips even though my heart was pounding with nerves.
"You too." My voice was a whisper as the others slipped off in different directions and we bolted out of the alley as fast as we could. I went left and Alex went right.
I let my legs take me as fast as they could. The cop car skidded to halt when they spotted me leaving the alley and the screech of the tires was like the wail of a banshee as I raced down my intended route. My breath quickened and as I inhaled the cool spring air my bandanna over my mouth touched my lips. I didn't look back when I heard the cops get out of the car behind me. I had to stifle a panicked noise that crawled up my throat at the feel of one of them pursuing me, heavy on his feet. My skate shoes hit the pavement quietly as I ran on the balls of my feet and my muscles burned as I pushed myself faster. The sky was dark, but city lights glittered off the broken glass on the sidewalk like the surface of freshly fallen snow. I was like a shadow, having worn all black like my friends and I could see the blue lights from under my black baseball cap as they reflected off the windows of the shiny buildings that flanked me like huge mirrors. I slipped into an alley, leaping past a few sketchy guys who mostly scattered when they realized I was being pursued. I could no longer see my friends and knew they were all heading home by their various routes.
We had done this so many times before, but I still felt the rush as my shaky hands gripped the metal of a chain-link fence that separated me from the dark woods that shadowed the city. I threw myself over it and leaped off backwards, slipping away from my uniformed pursuer with a long look at him as I backed into the trees out of the light of the orange street lamps and out of sight. They never followed when I got over that fence and I was glad to see that they didn't try tonight either. There was so much crime in my city; we were the least of their worries. I was surprised they even bothered to put up such a chase. The police officer put his hands on his bulging frog-hips as he caught his breath and let out a sigh of frustration before returning to where he came from with his walkie-talkie held up to his lips.
After I caught my breath, I took off my hat and my bandana and stuffed them in my bag as I made my way home, wondering if anyone had gotten a picture of our art before we ran.

The next morning was Monday and I took my usual route to school, meeting my collaborators at a picnic table on the school-grounds. I threw my arms around my boyfriend and pecked his cheek as our friends greeted me.
