A soft blow of wind instantly blew onto Adira's face, brushing through her hair, her footsteps approached closer and closer to her home, leaves falling everywhere, the crunches of the leaves, the drizzling rain falling onto her raincoat. She held her wooden bow as tightly as she could, her other hand ready to grab the arrows inside of her quiver. Her heart beat faster as she was about to take a sprint, her eyes quickly moving from side to side.
Another crunch of the leaves behind her made Adira's heart stop, as she inhaled the cold wind as it felt like razor blades. She turned herself around making her long, green raincoat twirl with her, her boots sinking into the mud as she tilted her bow up, grabbing an arrow out of her quiver, her eyes sharpened as she focused her eyes onto the place she heard the footsteps.
A dark figure came out of the shadows as her fingers almost slipped, she lowered her bow and stuck the arrow back into the bag. She saw a smaller boy approaching Adira, his green shirt, with a belt, leather pants, and his curly brown hair made Adira let her guard down. She saw the face and recognized it, it was her little brother, Killian.
Adira took her big hood off, showing off her dark brown hair as she lowered onto her brother's level. She placed her hands onto his shoulders, with a big burden lifting off of her. As she kneeled down her brown, leather pants were placed onto the mud, but Adira still kept a smile up, knowing that her brother was safe. "We are finally going home Killian, no more scary monsters, okay?"
"Promise?"
Promise.
The silence became ghost-quiet, the only thing that you would hear was the wind brushing through the leaves as the snow came with it, the crunching sound of footsteps as she walked through the snow, the whole forest was buried under a thick white drift as you saw the remaining flowers trying to crawl their way back to the surface.
The most depressing thing of all was the big stone covered in dead twigs, the whole grave was buried under the snow mixed with mud. The engraved letters on the big stone weren't readable as nature didn't want anyone to ever read them.
But Adira knew, she went there every cold winter, to grieve the one thing she had always cherished, the one thing that kept her from those cold nights where the nightmares crept back in. But it hadn't had any use anymore, not with him gone.
As her dark, blackcoat drifted, the freezing air blew into her face. Adira stared at the grave, many times she had tried to get rid of the vines, the twigs, but it hadn't any use. Every year when she came back it was covered back as it used to be. Eventually, she stopped, as the three years without him went by. Her gloves held the favorite flower he admired so much, a yellow rose.
She bowed down as she laid down the yellow rose, already having small snowflakes on it. Adira's eyes filled with tears as she couldn't keep a straight face, after all these years of grief, she still couldn't get over it.
Abruptly Adira heard a chuckle behind her as she stood up, wiping away the tears that went cold. She turned herself around, knowing that this happened every, year.
"Still grieving Adira?" His footsteps approached, "It's not like he's missed." His grin made Adira's stomach ache, the disgusting feeling of his presence. "Piss off Kristoff, it's not you're welcome here either."
A snap of Adira made his grin fade as the snowflakes fell onto this blonde, curled hair. "Well, unlike you poor Adira, I don't care about anyone." His face turned as cold as the wind around them, he came closer to Adira, she tried backing down, but knew if she did, she would be stepping on the grave of her loved one.
"That isn't possible since you care only about yourself." His dark, blond eyebrows frowned as he pointed towards Adira's face "If you don't be careful with your words you won't have anything to mourn next year."
Adira's face turned as white as the snow as she turned around and ran as fast as she could. The snow stuck onto her winter boots, her coat flew through the cold wind, as she dodged every last tree, branch, or bush. A sudden look back she saw the man running after her, he came closer and closer.
The man almost caught up with her but a sudden idea burst into Adira's mind, she searched around the forest as she continued running, keeping a hold of her rapid breathing, she knew the way here in the forest.
She ran towards a big cliff, the one she had seen a ton of times, but never tried coming too close. As she entered the edge of the cliff she slowed down herself downing almost slipping on the ice near the edge.
She looked down to see a big water stream that was continuously moving, a few rocks here and there but it looked deep enough. She turned herself around as Kristoff stood in front of her, he laughed.
"You really thought that you could escape me?" He chuckled as he came closer, his hand reached for his knife in his leather pocket, "It's time for you to leave bunny."
Adira looked behind her to scan for the last time, she looked back to see Kristoff having a grin on his face, amused by the last final breaths of Adira's life. "I'm amused by how stupid you think I am." His grin washed away by the rapid wind.
Adira walked back as she almost entered the last centimeters of the cliff. Adira smiled as she opened her arms, and took her last step backward as she let herself fall.
"NO!" Kristoff screamed as he stood by the edge, seeing the woman he thought he defeated falling down, his expression was priceless, the escape was the last thing he would've expected.
The clattering sounds of stones flew through the air as if it was in slow motion, the snowflakes flashed before her eyes, her coat flew with her, her arms flowing with the wind, so did her legs. After a second of comfort the panic flooded in, her eyes opened as she tried turning her body, with a force she tried her best to see where she was falling, everything went from what felt like minutes to seconds.
Adira closed her eyes,
the time stood still, and so did Adira's sense of feeling, at that moment a wave of emptiness struck, her emotion, soul it tried lingering onto that one feeling; the feeling she felt at the graveyard, but it wasn't possible. She was supposed to feel distressed but her soulless body couldn't keep up.
Her hair tickled in her face, and before she knew it she felt a big splash onto her body, the cold water touched her clothes, with a big slam she felt deeper and deeper in the stream, feeling rocks on her back, fishes swimming next to her unconscious body, how will she survive this big fall?
