The smoke grew scantier as the steps of the horse progressed closer to the mysterious smog, the small grey clouds didn't go any further than 3 feet up in the air, and as the snow slowly blew with the wind, Adira grew more curious. The night approached, and she needed to find shelter, she didn't want to spend another night in the forest, not alone in all that danger.

She went with her instincts as she paced quickly towards the smoke, and to her surprise, she saw the small village. She grew closer to it as the snow built up into a thick layer on the path, leaving crunches of sounds with every step.

At the beginning of the village's entrance were lanterns on wooden fences, small cottages with beautiful flowers onto the smallest porches, and small shops with open windows, letting the cold wind breeze in. Although it looked peaceful, it was suspicious to see no living soul walking, except for the walking chickens here and there.

As Adira progressed to keep walked she entered the two lanterns on the front, only to see three small humans walking towards her, they had small hats on, some leather clothing, and red shoes. "No trespassers allowed." The little male said as Adira's horse neighed in a gentle way.

"Sorry, I mean no harm." Adira stuttered with innocence as she stepped off her horse leaving two footprints on the layer of snow, "I'm Allison, I just need shelter for one night. I will be on my way as soon as the sun rises." Adira's hand patted on Raven's neck as she progressed to lock eyes with the one guy in the middle, the only thing annoying her was tilting her head all the way down to their level.

"Fine, but only one night." His firm voice said as Adira turned herself back to her horse's saddle, grabbing the halter, "In the barn." A grin appeared on the mans face as Adira her face turned back to his grin.

But it was better, least she had a place to stay for the cold night that was about to enter their village.

Adira walked behind with the other small people as they walked to a small shed, puddles of hay were sprayed everywhere, small lanterns hanging onto the ceiling as there were two big doors on the front. Barely any windows, but it would keep the ice-cold air out, it seemed nice even though,

You could hear sheeps making blaring sounds. The woman opened the door as she walked in, and the first noticeable thing was, the coziness that was present. "I'm sorry, but I have to ask," Adira asked as she turned herself around to see the woman lingering on the door.

As she was about to walk out she turned her head around to the side.

"Do you people maybe have some food, I haven't eaten in days." Adira's face turned paper-white as she stood there, waiting to be answered, "Sure, you can leave your baggage here- come with me."

The strange woman walked out of the door as Adira did too, her footsteps were loud as the floor was creaking here and there, so you could easily hear someone's walking. The woman closed the door as she clapped with her hands twice.

Adira's hands fidgeted together as she saw an even smaller guy running up to them, he looked scared but friendly, "Dorky, get this woman some food." The woman snapped in a calm voice to the little guy and as the command has been said, he ran back to where he came from.

Adira couldn't stop covering her giggle as she found it funny, her hand covered her mischievous laugh. She found it ironic, small people, small houses, and cute names. It must be gnomes. The woman hadn't noticed the giggle, or she just chose to ignore it as they both waited for the little boy to arrive back.

"I will be right back, I just need to grab something from my bag." Adira turns herself around as she opened the stiff door, only to her stuff lying on a pile near the wooden walls. As she walked to her stuff she bowed down to try and find her bottle of water, she had filled days ago.

Hold up. . my sword isn't where I placed it before.

Adira stood up in shock as she had realized her sword has been missing, she secured the stables to make sure she hadn't dropped in somewhere else, but it wasn't findable.

A sudden feeling rushed inside of her, it felt like she was bottling up, even though it was a stupid sword, it was her only defense weapon. She clenched her fist as she tried to overthrow her feelings, it was something she hadn't felt before.

"Allison, you're food is here." The gnome stood at the edge of the door as she interrupted Adira; "Coming, thank you." Adira said gently as she turned herself around again.

She hadn't had a proper reason to be furious. She took a deep ragged breath and walked to the door as she unclenched her fist.

She opened the door to see three gnomes standing with a plate of food in front of the shed, it had all sorts of meals, some pieces of cheese, berries, a cup of white liquid, which she assumed was milk.

Adira looked at them all with a big goofy smile on their small faces. Adira kneeled down on the path as her knee printed in the mud mixed with snow, and with a grace she smiled, the anger had slowly vanished, but that didn't mean she had forgotten they had stolen her only weapon, which means she needed to get it back.

"Thank you so much for this meal, you have treated me with pure kindness." Adira's fake smile had brightened their faces as she accepted their offer by giving them all a kiss on their foreheads, while the woman, just rolled her eyes.

The three men walked to the shed as Adira had kindly opened it for them, they all placed it on a small table near the door, only for Adira to enjoy. "Enjoy miss." The three walked out as they kept locking eyes with Adira, they only lingered as close, but it was time to leave her alone.

As the door closed the only thing left for her to do was wait until they had all fallen asleep, so while she waited, she just tried enjoying her meal infront of her, it had a delicious smell mixed with cheese and berries, bread, and some other fruits. They had treated her with kindness, but they had still stolen her sword, which must be returned.
