TW: some themes of abuse

It was rare that Kurt and Blaine argued, but when it did happen, as both boys were so stubborn, it normally resulted in one of them walking out for a few days. That was until they returned with armfuls of chocolate, flowers and apologies.

The way things were going tonight, the chance of that scenario happing was growing more likely.

"Blaine, you cannot just stand there and lie straight to my face!" Kurt yelled, his voice growing louder as his temper slowly bubbled towards boiling point.

Blaine balled his hands into fists before responding. "FINE! That guy did try to hit on me, but, as you clearly saw, he walked away!"

Kurt looked at the floor in disappointment and tried to keep his voice under control. "But you still entertained him and flirted right back until you noticed that I was watching." venom poisoned his words.

Blaine stepped closer to his fiancé so that they were almost kissing distance. "Kurt, you sound completely insane right now! you know that I love you, I love you, and I would never flirt with some other guy right under your nose."

"So you'd do it if I wasn't there?"

anger flashed in Blaine's eyes. "NO!"

Kurt threw his arms up in frustration and was about to respond with some remark about how "that's what it sounded like you were saying" when he stopped dead.

Because when he raised his hand, Blaine had flinched. Hard.

Almost as if he were expecting to be hit.

A sudden softness had made its way into Kurt's next words as he quickly lowered his arms. "Blaine, are...are you ok?" He asked.

Blaine was no longer looking at him and had his arms crossed tightly over his chest. "I'm fine." he replied, sniffing slightly.

All of Kurt's anger seemed to melt away as he tilted his head to look at his fiancé with concern, gently peeling the boy's arms from his chest. He took Blaine's hands into his own.

"Did someone used to hit you when they were angry?" Kurt asked hoarsely.

Blaine looked up at Kurt; tears shone in his eyes. "my dad." he whispered.

Kurt's stomach sank in shock and sympathy.

Silently, Kurt gently pulled Blaine towards the couch and sat them both down without letting go of his hands.

"Can... Can I hold you?" he asked hesitantly.

Blaine nodded.

Kurt wrapped one arm around Blaine's shoulders and used the other to pull his fiancé's head towards his chest, dropping a quick kiss to the other boy's hairline. Blaine shut his eyes and grasped Kurt's waist tightly.

"now you don't have to talk if you don't want to, but could you maybe tell me what exactly used to happen?"

Blaine cleared his throat before responding. "my uh... My dad would get drunk a lot. When I was younger he would never hit me or Cooper, but then I came out to him when I was 15."

He paused for a moment. "You already know he hated me for that. But I... I never told you that he would hit me for it too, especially when he was drunk or angry for some reason."

Kurt had tears running down his cheeks, and could feel his shirt getting wet with Blaine's.

"He... He..." Blaine was getting choked up and was struggling to properly form words. Kurt stroked his thickly-gelled hair gently, silently encouraging him to continue.

Blaine took a deep, shuddering breath to get his voice back. "He would hit, punch or slap me so often that anytime somebody quickly moves their arms near my face I flinch and just start... Shaking."

Kurt wasn't really sure what to say. He had always known that Blaine's dad didn't accept him for who he was, but he had had no idea that Mr. Anderson had abused his son. All this time, Blaine had been holding on to this horrible trauma and no one ever knew. Not even the man he was engaged to.

kurt's words were muffled, as he had buried his head into his fiancé's hair. "I'm so sorry for-"

Blaine's voice was sharp. "Don't, you didn't know."

Kurt just shushed him. "Let me finish. I'm so sorry for scaring you. I'm so sorry for not doing enough to prove to you that you could trust me enough to tell me this. But I'm so glad that you felt that you could tell me now. Now I know you already know this, but I need to tell you that I would never, never hurt you in any physical way. I love you, and you are the most important person in my life." Kurt had lifted his head again by this point, and was using his thumb to slowly stroke the spot on Blaine's head just above his ear.

"Hell, just the thought of causing you any pain is making me feel sick." this caused Blaine to finally drag his head away from Kurt's chest. He looked him in the eyes, blinking away tears.

"I love you, and I trust you." was all he said. It was enough.

Kurt lightly brushed his lips against Blaine's. The kiss wasn't heated, or even sad. It was reassuring. It said everything that needed to be said between them. It said "I love you, I trust you, and I will always protect you."

They then layed down together on their narrow couch, encased in each other's embrace. Kurt and Blaine layed like that for the next few hours, one whispering something quietly to the other every so often. Their earlier fight remained forgotten. What was it about again?

Guess who hasn't posted in a while lol whoopsies :) did you enjoy that? I honestly can't tell if people actually enjoy reading these kind of scenes, where they don't move around and nothing super dramatic happens between them and their relationship. If you can tell me if you like this sort of stuff or to shut up and keep my ramblings to myself, It would be greatly appreciated :3
