Context: Guess what? married in New york.
The sound of rain hitting the thin windows of their New York apartment shook Blaine awake. He rubbed his eyes a few times before rolling over and trying to put his arm around his husband's waist, only to roll over and find an empty stretch of mattress next to him.
Blaine sat up as his eyes adjusted to the dark room and squinted to try and look if there was light coming from underneath the bathroom door. There was no light to indicate that Kurt was in the bathroom, which made Blaine panic and jump out of bed.
He didn't come to his senses until he had wandered into the living room, still looking for his husband, when Blaine suddenly stopped short. The audition.
Kurt had an audition tomorrow morning; which must mean Kurt is where he always goes when he is nervous or scared but he doesn't want to wake the other boy up; the balcony.
Blaine quickly made two hot chocolates and walked out onto the balcony. He smiled when he saw Kurt's silhouette against the moonlight; He was leaning against the railing with his chin in his hand, staring down at the wet pavements.
Blaine listened to the rain hitting the plastic roof above them for a moment before speaking. "It's pretty cold out here." he said, and laughed slightly when Kurt jumped at the sudden noise.
"God, you scared me." He said. "Is that hot chocolate?"
Blaine handed over the drink before draping a blanket over Kurt's shoulders and sitting down on the large cushioned bench behind them, gesturing for his husband to do the same.
Kurt sat down beside him and leaned into Blaine's chest, sipping his drink. "How did you know I was out here?" he asked. Blaine began running his hand up and down his husband's arm before responding. "You've got an audition tomorrow. And whenever you have an audition, You wake up in the middle of the night, sit out on the balcony in the cold and rain(although you never feel the weather), stare down at the pavement and unless I find you beforehand you don't move until dawn." He said, wrapping the blanket tighter round Kurt's frozen limbs and pressing a light kiss to his forehead.
"You know me so well." Kurt smiled as he said this, but that smile quickly faded away as he realised something. "I didn't wake you up did I? I'm sorry you can just go back to bed..."
"no, no, you didn't. You just scared me a little when I saw you weren't there, and i'm not going back to bed unless you come with me." Blaine replied, shifting his husband's weight off of him in an attempt to get him to stand up.
Kurt got the message and stood up, sighing deeply. "Ok. I probably won't actually sleep though."
Blaine frowned as they walked back inside arm in arm. He knew that his husband's habits were bad for him, and part of the reason why Kurt didn't always get the roles he auditioned for; not because he was no good, But because he always looked exhausted from the night before.
The boys laid down with their arms around each other, listening to the rain hitting the roof. Blaine kissed the older boy's forehead again and began running his hand gently through his hair in an attempt to make him fall asleep.
"what...what are you doing?" Kurt asked through a yawn. "Nothing." Blaine whispered in response, sprinkling light kisses across his face, and within a few minutes Kurt was fast asleep.
Blaine put his arm back round his husband's waist, proud he had managed to soothe him to sleep.
