"A boggart is a shape-shifting creature that takes on the form of the viewer's worst fear. To help you prepare for your final exam I've been able to get a boggart for you to practice the banishing spell on. Riddikulus and while saying that, you have to think of a way to make the boggart funny, make yourself laugh over them."Regulus wasn't listening. They have already had to fight a boggart in third grade. Seeing the cabinet again was not exactly thrilling or interesting to him. He pulled out his wand and circled it between his fingers lazily.
"Obviously that would be to easy. The boggart is just the base of what you will have to face. I've developed a spell that will give the boggart the control to change the room, your whole surrounding, to fit your fear."
A murmur went through the classroom and Nesrin looked worried at Estelle, who didn't seem to have heard a single thing of what their new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher had just said. Her glare was fixated at a small bird sitting on the tree in front of the window.
"Miss Selwyn, if my introduction seems to be boring you so much I think it would be best for you to start."
She turned her head towards the teacher and slowly stood up, twisting her wand in her hand nervously. Her teeth started gliding over her lower lip, trying to calm her down. Thinking about being in a room full of her fears already made her heart race.
"On the count of three. One. Two. Three."
The door of the cabinet flew open and the room started to change immediately. She could hear waves crashing at the shore. Opening her eyes slowly, after instinctively closing them when the door flew open, she saw herself standing at a cliff. No one was around, under her was the sea. Loud waves kept crashing against the cliff, slowly reaching her.
"Estelle!"
She flinched when she heard her best friend call for her, she tried to turn around and see from where the screams were coming from, but she couldn't move. It was as if she was petrified. Then she saw someone in the water. She couldn't see his face, but in her heart she could feel that he was important. Every fiber in her body wanted to move, in order to either protect the person the water or to look for Nesrin. Waves kept on crashing over the persons head, pushing him down repeatedly.
"Estelle! Help me!"
No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't move. The boy in the water was now almost at the cliff and she thought she could see black hair for a split second before he got pushed under water again.
"It hurts!"
Her friends voice sounded heartbreaking. She tried to remember that this wasn't real and that all this was just a stupid boggart, but it all seemed too real. Her hands were trembling and it took a lot of focus for her to stop them from doing so.
"Estelle!"
It was the voice of the boy, who was calling for her now. His head got pushed under water again so quickly he couldn't have had enough time to take a breath. This time his head didn't reappear. The only thing she could see afterwards were his arms trying to reach someone or something, but only grabbing air.
"Riddikulus."
Her voice was weak and she couldn't think of anything to make this funny, so she wasn't surprised when nothing happened.
"We're all dead because of you. Everyone you love dies. You're cursed!"
In front of her, hovering over the water, was her family. Her mother with a stabbing wound in her stomach, her brother with bite marks all over him and her father all grey and worn out.
