There was no label on what Regulus and Estelle were, but since the masquerade ball they spend a lot of time together. It was the second week of winter break and they had snuck outside past curfew, because Estelle wanted to show something to him."Careful." He said, while playing a hand on her hip so she wouldn't slip on the slightly frozen grass. Her hand interlaced with his and pulled it to her mouth, kissing it softly. Afterwards she pulled it away a bit and stopped walking so she could see better.
"What's that?"
While speaking she traced the colorful spots on the back of his hand. Regulus could feel a heat creeping up his cheeks and tried to overplay it, with turning around. No one knew that he painted until now, it wasn't exactly an activity his parents would approve.
"Paint." He mumbled while pretending to be immensely interested in the silhouette of the castle.
"Didn't know that you paint." Estelle could see that the subject made Regulus uncomfortable, but now everything made perfect sense. The smell she couldn't identify whenever walking past her Amortentia plant, it has been paint. Him telling her that he painted was like finding the last puzzle piece, she had been searching for ages.
In this moment she realized that she loved him and that she would love him for as long as her heart was beating inside her chest.
Love him until the oceans dried out. Although it scared her, so much she thought it would suffocate her, she couldn't help it.
He was sure, that she had told him where they were going, but he was lost so lost in his thoughts that he didn't realize. All he could think about was how found he grew of Estelle and that this would just complicate things in the end. Her hand pulled him behind her eagerly, finally she stopped at the Black Lake and he saw that she had prepared a blanket for them to sit on. His heart started beating faster. Estelle pushed him down to sit with a playful force, before straddling onto his lap and pointing towards the sky.
"Look." she exclaimed happily and it was hard for Regulus to loose his gaze from her glowing face. The night was perfectly clear and they could see all the stars above them. It was beautiful, he thought while moving his eyes back to Estelles face, who still stared at the stars in admiration.
"There." She moved her hand upwards and pointed towards a constellation.
"What's there?" He didn't understand what she was trying to show him, but looking at her and seeing the childish happiness in her eyes that made his chest feel weak.
"You. Don't tell me you didn't know that you were named after a star." Her eyes found his while she asked him in a mocking tone and watched a soft crimson form on his cheekbones.
"Of course I know." His voice sounded more defensive than he intended it to be, which made Estelle giggle. Softly he gave her a kiss on the tip of her nose. Even though she was already close, he still felt overwhelmed by her scent when he leaned in for the kiss.
"If that's the case I guess we can go back inside already." Estelle said in a played offended voice and tried to get up from his lap, but he pulled her down again and started covering her face in little kisses. She couldn't help but smile and drop the act. Being with him made her the happiest she had been since a long time.
Therefore she didn't care about the future, everything could change in a second anyway. So why not enjoy the present and worry about the future when it's there.
"Teach me about the stars." He mumbled into her hair, which she agreed to with a soft kiss and moving his chin so he had to look into the sky again.
