-𝐌𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐝𝐲-

I decided to go to school the next morning, mostly because I didn't want to fall behind too much.

---

When the bus stopped, I sighed, heading home.

I went inside and paused for a moment at the doorway. So far, no yelling.

I made it upstairs without seeing anyone, but that was before I stepped into my room.

"Michael?" he was sitting on my bed, staring off into space. "What are you doing in here?"

He looked up at me. "Why were you at Tessa's yesterday?"

"I didn't want to face Mal," I mumbled.

My brother stood up and hugged me. "I'm sorry about Malina. I talked to her yesterday and she promised not to yell at you like that again."

"Thanks." I mumbled. "Hey, I gotta go. I'm going over to a friend's house to do a project."

---

I rang the doorbell of Julian's house and stepped back, waiting.

Suddenly, the door opened to reveal a really pretty girl who seemed about a year or two younger than me.

"Hi," I mumbled, suddenly feeling a bit self-conscious. "I'm here to see Julian?"

"Hi, Melody." Julian appeared behind the girl. "Come on in."

The girl, who I assumed was Julian's sister, looked back and forth between us.

"Is this your girlfriend or something?" she asked.

Julian whirled around. "No! She's here to work on our science project."

We went up to his room and he got out a poster board. I took my supplies out of my bag and looked at the poster for a moment. Luckily, Lexi explained the project to me, so I knew what we were doing.

"I think we should do chemical changes here and physical here. That leaves room for the essay here at the bottom."

"If that's what you want," Julian said with a grin and a shrug.

Okaaaaaaaay...

---

After two hours, three breaks, and one accident where I fell asleep, we'd finished and I stepped back to admire it.

"It looks good." Julian said, standing.

"Yeah."

"So... I guess I'll keep it until it's due?"

"Yep."

"'Kay."

"I have to get home for dinner now," I said, checking my phone.

"See you tomorrow then."

---

I was walking up the driveway of my house when I got a text.

It was from Lexi.

COME OVER QUICKLY.

I checked the time.

I do have a few minutes to spare...

Puzzled, I walked over to Lexi's house. But before I could even knock, Lexi shoved me inside. She then dragged me up to her room and shut the door.

"What-" she showed me her phone, "-is this?!"

I took it from her. It was one of Julian's Instagram posts.

He'd taken a picture of us while I was asleep. I was sprawled over the desk, sleeping, while Julian was looking at the camera, smirking.

I explained to her about the project and how I fell asleep, but Lexi still had something to ask.

"Are you two secretly dating or something?"

"I- what?!"

"Yeah." Lexi said, showing me her phone again. "Well, I guess not dating, but I know that Julian likes you for sure now."

"What are you talking about?" I asked, scrolling through the comments. "He-" I paused as I saw Julian's reply to someone.

Isn't she she so cute when she sleeps? I hope she likes me back!

I just sat there, gawking at it.

"Told yaaaaaa!" Lexi shouted, doing a little dance. "This is so cute-"

"Seriously, Lex? You know I don't like him."

Lexi stopped mid-dance. "You don't??"

"Nope. Why do people keep making assumptions about who I like?"

"Maybe because you've liked a lot of guys in the past?" Lexi shrugged.

"Good point."

"So, are you excited for Tessa's party?" Lexi asked, changing the subject.

hope you liked!
