December 8th, 2021

It went on like that for a while. Rumors about Oliver and I dating spread like an untamable wildfire.

One day after school, Tessa called me.

"Hey girl, how are you?"

"Not the best," I muttered.

"What do you mean?"

"So... remember Oliver White? Well... I basically told my friends here that he was hot and one of them told him."

"What?! Oh hell no,  you should drop her, Mel."

I sighed. "That's not the point. The entire school's been talking about us. It's literally Connor and Ian all over again."

"Speaking of which, how are LDR goals with Connor?"

I groaned into my pillow. "That's the other thing. I don't know. It's been like two months since we've talked."

"Hold up, what?"

"He hasn't been answering my calls or texts, and I'm kind of starting to get worried."

"Well he seemed perfectly fine at school," she finally mumbled after a pause. "Wait, so when did this whole Oliver thing happen?"

"On my birthday."

"Mel, it's been like 10 whole days and you're telling me now?"

I laughed sheepishly. "But... you don't think there's anything going on with Connor, do you?"

"Connor and Caleb have been in Oregon for the past week, visiting their cousins or something."

"But it's been longer than that...."

"I don't know," Tess replied. "But it's probably nothing. I'm sure he'll call you soon."

"I hope so..."

Ding!

I checked my phone and my eyes went wide. I flipped it around to show my friends. "Oh my gosh, he finally texted me!"

"Read it!" Madelyn exclaimed.

I smiled before typing back a response.

After hearing from Connor, I was able to relax a little. There was apparently something really important coming up anyways.

"So," Jenna said during Study Hall, "since the Winter Wonderland Formal is coming up soon-"

"What's that?" I asked.

"Only the second biggest dance of the year!" Anna squealed. "The first is obviously the Valentine's Gala."

"We should go shopping together. How's this Saturday? I'll text you the details," Jen finished, just as the bell rang.
