Jimin sat on a stool, having just ordered a drink in the little cocktail bar he liked to go to. It was a trendy venue, where many officers frequented after a tough shift. He enjoyed the quiet, the multi coloured lights that cast a rainbow effect in the room, the small chrome tables and the fact that the bar staff were always ready to listen. He had tried many times to get Jungkook to go with him but after going just a handful of times, Jungkook had not bothered again. Jimin knew that he preferred the strip clubs, he wasn't sure which one exactly but he knew that he had a bee in his bonnet about Vante.
Jimin sipped on his Manhatten, his usual cocktail that was waiting for him when he walked through the door and approached the bar. It was quiet and he sat in his regular spot, letting out a breath in relief as the ice cold liquid slipped past his lips. Relaxing after a day chasing criminals was always a good thing and today had been spent preparing for an upcoming court case. He hated going to court, it was a long, boring day that always dragged on for weeks, only for the perpetrator to go free because the money laundering had enabled him to afford the best lawyer (oh the irony). There were many positives to being a detective, like the fact that he didn't have to walk the streets and deal with the general public, those days were behind him. The role of detective wasn't always clear though and he always found himself being tasked with things that needed doing because of staff shortage or because he had the knowledge, it was less monotonous than when he was a regular cop. Jimin liked that he shared his career with his best friend, it made his professional world a whole lot brighter having Jungkook to talk to and they often used the time they had to complain about the job they both loved.
A man sat down on the stool beside Jimin, ordering a long island tea, his voice was silky smooth with a tone that caused a little spark in Jimin's body. Jimin couldn't help but glance at him out of the corner of his eye, noticing the crisp white shirt, sleeves rolled up to his elbow revealing the softest looking tanned skin. As he sipped his drink he looked down at the mans shoes, smart, black and highly polished, Jimin wondered if he was a cop, not having seen him in here before.
"Hi"
Jimin managed to contain the fact that he had been startled slightly and looked in the direction of the voice "Hi" he replied.
"Would you like another drink? Unless you are waiting for someone, then just say and I'll find a quiet corner and leave you alone."
Jimin felt his face flush a little and hoped his voice didn't betray him "I'm not waiting for anyone. A drink would be nice, thanks."
The two men chatted over drinks, Jimin was usually so insistent on eye contact being one of the most important parts of communication, but he was struggling. The man, Li Weng, was originally from China and his eyes were beautiful crescents, framed by long dark lashes. The contact lenses he wore were a striking green and Jimin couldn't look into his eyes for long, without feeling the heat crawl up his neck. Li Weng was striking, the jet black hair scraped back into a small, tight, bun at the base of his skull, the tanned skin, bright eyes, the crisp white shirt, undone enough to show the smooth skin of a toned chest. Jimin was in trouble!
Jimin grabbed his jacket once he'd finished the last drop of his cocktail, turning to say goodbye to the man that had kept him company all evening, the hours had flown by but he needed to sleep. Jimin's heart nearly stopped at the close proximity, not expecting Li Weng to be stood quite so close, especially looking at him like that. They walked through the door of the bar into the brisk night air, Jimin's skin tingled when he felt Li Weng's hand on the small of his back. They stood to one side, away from the hustle and bustle of the street, still chaotic with people coming and going to bars and restaurants.
"Thank you for tonight. It was, err, really nice." Jimin shuffled his feet, his hands warm in his pockets.
"I enjoyed it too."
