Context: Royalty AU where Aziraphale is a princess and Crowley is the dragon keeping her locked away. Well, she's a shapeshifter who takes the form of a dragon for this forced assignment.
This started off as a half-assed Shrek AU. I first started writing this idea in 2021, I don't know what it is anymore. For more accuracy, I used some prompts from the franchise, since it's not the same plot. There's also a Dragonheart reference in there for those who know that movie. You have been warned.

The fair maiden Aziraphale has spent most of her adult life locked in a tower. Awaiting a knight in shining armor to come rescue her from the terrifying dragon which guards the mostly abandoned castle. Though, with time, Aziraphale realizes the dragon is not so bad, once you get used to her.

Whenever you heard the tale of a princess being locked away in a tower, you expected to hear the happy ending. That a brave and clever knight came to her aid, swept her off her feet and they lived happily ever after. Aziraphale had been hopeful this would be her case too. And slowly, with every knight's attempt and failure, she started to believe that her fate was to die alone in that tower. And what infuriated her to no end was that she knew why she was there. She was a pawn in a greater scheme.
Her father, King Gabriel Fell, had always been a selfish man. He wasn't the best with money. And that was a problem, considering the kingdom's debts. He was simply a lord back in his youth, but he married princess Uriel Jasal after winning a tournament for her hand, then became king. By all accounts, there was no real love or interest in the marriage from either party. Especially since the only child they had, looked nothing like her supposed parents. This lead to rumors of her being a bastard, not the daughter of the king, but instead, of one of the royal cooks.
