I guess I'm glad Ms. Tahoe set me up with more classes, even if I do have to sit with other people. I had four classes, my major was Animal Studies. I also had Biology C, Forestry, and Basic Survival. I was thinking about taking another one of Ms. Tahoe's animal classes but I'm not quite sure. Class was almost over now, so I started to gather my things. Ridge was whispering something to Allie, he was a loud whisperer.
"She looks kind of familiar, do we know her from somewhere?"
Allie shrugged. I glanced at him, trying not to smirk. You'd think he'd have seen me before when I was his neighbor, but it's not like I was home very often. And I wasn't about to tell him I lived next to him for years. I just found out his name anyway. The bell rang and I immediately shot towards the door.
"Hey, Shard?" I turned around. Ridge was looking at me with a questioning gaze. "What classes do you have?"
I told him and he smiled. "We have Basic Survival together." I nodded and tried to walk away.
"Hey what room are you in?"
I turned back around. "Um... um..." well crap. This is awkward. I really didn't know what to say, I couldn't really tell him I didn't have one. Instead of answering I snapped, "Why do you want to know?"
He flinched, and I turned sharply to walk to my next class.
Ridge didn't talk to me in Basic Survival and I was glad. It's better he leaves me alone. As I worked my way down to my temporary home I thought how nice it would be to have and actual room. Other people had classes right now, so the halls were empty. I was standing milling around when I noticed a shape behind me. A tall security guard stood behind me.
"What are you doing down here?" he glared. "You're not supposed to be down here." I glared back at him.
"What are you doing down here?" I challenged.
"I work here."
I cursed myself for talking back but it was a habit. I looked around for an excuse, but then I remembered that farmer boy.
"I was visiting my sheep." I said. It sounded ridiculously lame. The guard's eyebrows raised.
"Really? Which sheep is yours?"
Damnugget stupid ****... I walked over to the pen. I looked for the sheep.
"That one." I pointed. The guard didn't look convinced.
"Here Jardan!" I called out. I'm pretty sure that was it's name. To both me and the guard's surprise the sheep actually came. I grinned.
"See? told you." I pet the sheep gently. The guard simply nodded and walked away. I looked at Jardan.
"You're an amazing sheep." I whispered. When the guard left I grabbed my things from my little crate and left heatedly. I needed to find a safer spot to stay. I went to the main hall. They had a list of which families were in which rooms. The clerk didn't notice when I grabbed it. I doubted they just had open rooms, but I heard there was a girl who had committed suicide. Perhaps I could have her room. She was easy to find due to the fact her name was crossed out in red. The word 'deceased' was written next to it.
When I finally found the room I saw it had tape over it. I carefully removed it and slipped inside. I wasn't expecting it to be unlocked but it was, the key taped to the wall. I grabbed it and locked the door behind me. The room was very pretty. The walls were painted red and black. The black was designed as long tendrils of ivy wrapping around roses here and there. Fairly simple, but I liked it. The carpet was a simple cream and the furniture was black. The bathroom was a little less to my liking. It had pretty little flowers painted on the walls. The shower, bath, sink, and toiled were a light pink. It was just too... bright. But it's certainly better than living in storage.
Back in the main room I noticed a grand piano in the corner. Not sure how I missed that before... It was nice though, even if I had no clue how to play. I continued looking through the room, surprised to find they hadn't removed the girl's personal items. I glanced through her wardrobe. She was a size smaller than me, but I did find a couple things I might be able to wear, which is awesome because I haven't changed yet.
After examining everything I decided to take a nap. Who'd have thought? Today was actually a good day! Especially due to this dumb girl having... left her room for me.
