Man my head hurt, and not just from the lump I got from takeoff. It was just so much! The knowledge that everyone was now dead really didn't bother me. It's not like I really cared for anyone... But when I heard the announcement that Earth had been destroyed, I cursed.

I cursed Ruski for planting those bombs, I cursed my dad for not being here, I cursed the families who sat here sobbing, but most of all I cursed myself. Why didn't I just stay on Earth? It could have been all over now, a peaceful nothingness. But instead here I am looking at the idiot visiting his sheep again.

What's worse, I barely packed anything, and it was so boring! I looked at that boy again. He looked like a- well... a farmer. I decided to follow him as he walked down a small hallway. i haven't seen the rest of the ship yet. I pulled up my hood and kept a good distance from him.

Eventually we get to a room which I assumed was the main hall. I looked at the map, realizing how big the ship was. When I looked back the farmer boy was gone. I noticed a bunch of people moving to a large room.

I looked around. there were crying people everywhere. I looked around to see if I perhaps knew anyone. After a bit I spot my old neighbors sitting close together. I make my way towards them but keep my distance.

A man hushed the crowd and started talking, droning on about how it's such a great loss and junk. No, what's a great loss is that there's no tobacco plants on this ship! Guess I'll have to save my cigarettes...

Eventually another man walked up, Mr. Waters. What he had to say was actually kind of interesting. He talked about how people could take classes to learn about surviving in Novelta. I kind of thought the animal classes might be cool but I didn't really want to have to explain who I was to whoever taught them.

I glanced at the other Waters, they all had the same glassy-eyed look. I think the boy was trying really hard to be strong. When the meeting is done I file out with the rest of the people and try to decide what to do next. I settled on taking a quick look around and going home.

The next day I open my eyes to see that farmer talking to his sheep, saying he was gonna take some classes and wouldn't be here as much. I follow him out again and pick a random hall to walk down, taking in my surroundings. There were several large doors with labels that said things like "Medicine and Plants" and "Animal Life". I guess these are a couple of the classrooms. A voice from behind startles me.

"Who are you?" A big black security guard comes up behind me. I just kind of stood there, unsure what to do. "Are you lost?" He looked at my hooded figure suspiciously. I panic a little, what would they do if then knew I was a stowaway?

"Um yeah... I'm looking for the animal class..." I mumble, staring at the floor. If he keeps asking questions I may have to... well... shut him up, so to speak.

"It's right behind you."

"Oh... thanks..." I half smile awkwardly and walk in, taking a seat in the back. There were several other people here, all different ages. As the class begins I realize they haven't taken attendance. I guess since it really isn't mandatory that you go they don't have to. You just get your schedule and go to whatever class. That's good...

Maybe I can sit in some lessons? A boy turns around and looks at me. I flash him a sort of evil-ish grin. He turns around and quickly listens to the teacher.

The teacher is an old woman named Ms. Tohan. She reminds me of a librarian or something, in a turtle-neck and glasses. She started explaining the basic principles of food chains and tells us we'll have to determine where animals on Novelta fit in on the food chain.

It's kind of cool actually... I decide I'm going to attend this class regularly when I can. It's better that doing nothing anyway.
