"Adeline!" Adeline hears. "ADELINE SMITH".

Adeline runs to the bannister. Holding the chapped wood, painted over in a soft eggshell colour.

"Yes?" Adeline replies down to her mother, wondering what is going on.

"What's this?" says her mother, Gabby, holding a pretty looking envelope with Adeline's name on it.

Adeline runs downstairs to her mother and grabs the letter, frowning at it.

Adeline Smith

12 Archglass Estates

London, England.

What was this confusing letter? Adeline turned the envelope over to a sealed wax stamp in a beautiful dark ruby colour.

Adeline read the letter.

"What's Hogwarts?" Adeline asked her mother. Looking up in confusion.

"No clue..." Her mother replied, placing the letter on the cabinet. "Seems like a big joke to me! Owls, broomsticks, cauldrons, wands? Probably just a big joke from the boys up the road."

Adeline was just about to walk back upstairs as she heard a big knock on the door.

"Go get it, Ad." Says Gabby, turning on the kettle.

Adeline walks to the door and pulls the handle. Awaiting a old, kind looking lady wearing a yellow jumper. Knitted by the looks of things.

"Pomona Sprout!" The lady says. "Professor to you." Pomona walks inside examining the muggle home.

"I suspect you've gotten your letter?" Pomona asks Adeline. "I see you have. A bit concerned I suppose, Gabby. Bit weird, the whole wizarding world, isn' it?"

Pomona collapsed on to a great armchair and explained the wizarding world to Adeline and her mother.

"S-so...?" Gabby stutters.

"Your Adeline is a witch." Pomona tells her. "And according to Albus Dumbledore, a soon to be great one!"

"I- I.? And.. This isn't a joke?" Gabby says crossing her arms.

"Nope!" Says Pomona, pulling her wand out of her coat pocket.

"Orchideous!" Pomona exclaims, pointing her wand at a glass of water.

A flower grew from the glass, sprouting its pink, delicate petals from the bright green stalk.

Adeline's eyes grew staring at the glass.

"Woah! And.. And I could do this?" Adeline asks Pomona.

"Of course you can! A simple spell. You can go to Diagon Alley to purchase your school supplies now. That is, expecting you consent?" Pomona questions, turning her head to Gabby.

"I- I-" Stutters Gabby.

"I don't care! I'm going!" Says an exited Adeline. "I'll wear my coat."

"Adeline! You're eleven years old. Surely you don't expect me to allow you alone shopping?" Gabby questions Adeline, grabbing her arm.

"I assure you Diagon Alley is perfectly safe." Pomona tells Gabby, placing her wand back into her robe pocket. "I'll be going too!"

"How? May I ask?" Gabby says, obviously concerned.

"Floo Powder of course!" Explains Pomona, Pulling a pot out of her robe.

Pomona grabs Adeline's hand and pulls her to the fireplace.

"I'll go first. Have you got money?" Pomona says, rushing.

"Um.. Is twenty pounds enough?" Asks Adeline.

"Pounds...? Oh! Muggle money. You'll have to exchange it at Gringotts." Explains Pomona.

"Uh? Okay." Says Adeline.

"Pay attention to what I'm doing." Instructs Pomona.

Pomona steps into the fireplace, shouts "DIAGON ALLEY" and drops a handful of Floo Powder; suddenly, a great big flame of green shoots up. She's gone.

"You can go." Gabby tells Adeline, smiling softly.

Adeline grabbed a handful of Floo Poweder, dropped it on the cold floor and shouted;

"Diagon Alley!"
