Chapter 8 - Suyin

Asami sat at her desk intently studying some blueprints she had been avoiding for a day or so. She was finally able to give her attention to some projects she had put aside this week due to everything that had happened. Yesterday was almost a total loss because of the energy she had to give to the whole situation with Korra and Kuvira. Even now she had to step away from Korra so she could speak to Kuvira alone. She heard a small tap on her office door. "Come in." Kuvira stepped through the doorway. Asami looked up. "Please, sit down. Thank you for agreeing to talk to me today." Kuvira had a stern look on her face. She really did not want to do this. She was somewhat intimidated by Asami because she was so beautiful and now Korra would be spending a lot of time with her. "Why did you need to talk to me alone?" She questioned Asami. "Because your work her at Future Industries has nothing to do with Korra but everything to do with how you conduct yourself regarding that relationship. Just like I spoke to Korra alone. I want to make sure you and I understand each other and that you feel comfortable talking to me independent of her." Asami had a very serious look on her face. "I do value this internship I hope you know that." Kuvira quickly spit out, her eyes narrowing as her gaze became more intense. "That was obvious til you started "dating" Korra. Your work is still good but you're obviously distracted. I know you can do better and I expect more from you." Kuvira cast her eyes down and shifted in her seat. "Listen, I know that you're probably dealing with a lot right now emotionally. You've made a huge change in your life. Please know you can talk to me about this anytime and if you're not comfortable talking to me we do have two therapists on staff here." Kuvira had been overwhelmed these past weeks. She could feel her emotions coming to the surface as she looked up at Asami. "I love her so much Asami. I didn't even know this was in me. I'm a lesbian and I didn't even know. How does that happen?" Tears were spilling out of her eyes as she clenched her jaw trying to hold them back. Asami's face softened. "Well, I'm not exactly sure, but I realize that's a lot to deal with. You know.. I am going to recommend you speak with one of our therapists. You can still talk to me too if you want but I think you could use some extra support." Asami pulled two cards from her desk and handed them to Kuvira. "We have Kya and Tenzin, both excellent at their job. You may be more comfortable with Kya but I don't want to assume anything. Give one of them a call or I can arrange something if you want. But you need to process what you're going through." Asami got up and walked around the desk. Kuvira stood up and turned to go to the door but then turned back. "Thank you Asami and I'm sorry for all of this." Asami put her hand on Kuvira's shoulder. "Don't apologize it's just life happening, we just have to move through it."

Korra was bored. She had completed the work Asami gave her and now she was stuck in this dumb office. Asami had instructed her to stay there til she came back. What is taking her so long? I wonder what her and Kuvira are talking about. I'm not just going to sit in here. She walked out to the workshop to see if there were any projects being worked on that she could check out. Suyin was in the corner rifling through some drawers looking for something. Turn around and walk back to the office Korra. Do NOT talk to her. "Hey. You look like you could use some help." Suyin turned around and raised her eyebrows. "Actually, I just found what I was looking for. Remind me again how old you are..." Korra gave her a half smile and licked her lips. "Twenty four, Why do you ask?" Suyin moved in closer to Korra's ear and whispered "Because I'm to old for games Korra. I know what I want and you've been a shameless flirt from day one. I'll be in touch with a time and a place if you're interested." Asami had walked into the workshop and witnessed their whole exchange though she didn't hear it. She was speed walking towards them. Suyin straightened up and said "I'll see you later Korra thanks for the help." Korra turned around and saw Asami looking extra pissed off. "Wow you really need me to be physically with you at all times! What the fuck Korra! I told you to stay in that office!" Asami grabbed her hand and pulled her down the hall. "I'm sorry! I finished my work and just came out here to look around." They made it into the office and Asami slammed the door shut. "I should kick your ass right now! SUYIN!? She's twice your age and MARRIED! Like really what the fuck! You are so infuriating!" Korra sensed a little more was going on but didn't dare address it. "I understand you're upset but why are you screaming at me it seems a little dramatic." Asami spun around and hit the file cabinet with the side of her fist. "I'm trying to run a FUCKING company and I can't keep worrying about you running around fucking women in one of the back offices!!! Don't you care about anyone but yourself??" Korra sat down on the desk. "I....I'm sorry. You're right. I'm an asshole." Asami put her hand to her head and let out a sigh. "Korra, you have so much potential. I just hate to see you wasting your time and energy on these....flings. You are better than this. Remember our conversation at your apartment? Don't you want to stop hurting other people and maybe find someone you can really give your whole self to?" Asami sighed again and turned away from Korra. "Asami I really am sorry. I know you're working really hard to help me. Sometimes I forget how many important things you have to do. You shouldn't have to worry about babysitting me. I promise from now on, here at work, I'll behave. Only work from here on out. Can I somehow make this up to you? Let's spar later, you can just beat the shit out of me..then we could watch a movie or something."
