Chapter 37 - Headed back

Asami walked into Future Industries not knowing what to expect after her two week absence. It was the longest she had been away from her company and she was concerned she would come back to find everything in disarray. As she walked into the building, her employees were bustling about seemingly getting things done in a timely manner. A few of them had noticed her presence, smiled and started moving a little quicker. As she ascended the stairs to her office Kuvira came into view standing by herself off to the side of Suyin's office, hands on her hips, head hanging down, pacing back and forth. She was visibly upset but as she saw Asami approaching she straightened up and forced a smile. "Hey! Welcome back." She said nervously as her eyes darted toward Su's office. Asami gave her a perplexed smile and glanced in the same direction. Suyin was at her desk looking over something with an irritated look on her face. Asami turned back to Kuvira. "Thanks, everything ok here?" Kuvira let out a long sigh and folded her arms as she started to rock on her heels. "Well, I'm supposed to be working with her today but we're having some trouble um....getting along... and she just kicked me out of her office....let's just say we aren't exactly friends at this point. I mean compared to Zhu Li she's great but we're still going into this with some unresolved issues." Asami furrowed her brow and looked back toward Suyin. "Hey, why don't you go to you're office and keep yourself busy there for a bit. I'm going to talk to Suyin." Kuvira looked back to Su's office and then to Asami. "You sure?" Asami smiled and nodded her head. "Yes, go on it will be fine." Kuvira smiled and turned to leave thanking her as she walked away. Suyin had looked up noticing the two women talking and tried to change the expression on her face smiling as Asami walked into her office. "Hey Asami! How was your trip? You look great, I'm assuming that has to do with Korra?" Asami sat down and smiled. "Yes, it was a good trip. A few bumps here and there but overall it was amazing to spend time with Korra and her parents. I even got to meet and spend time with your sister, Lin. I didn't realize her and Kya had been together for so long. They're a really great couple." Suyin's eyes got wide and she smiled brightly. "You got to spend time with Lin??!! I'm so jealous, I hardly get to see her and we live in the same city. Ya, Kya is really good for her, she's softened her up quite a bit." Asami assumed Suyin hadn't heard about their recent engagement. "You should give her a call I'm sure she would love to hear from you." Suyin sat back in her seat. "You know you're right, I think I will, I really miss talking to her." Asami cleared her throat as she considered how to change the subject to Suyin's treatment of Kuvira. "So. How have things been since I called a few days ago. I mean with the Zhu Li and Kuvira situation?" Suyin rolled her eyes in disgust. "Honestly, I can't say I blame Zhu Li for being so aggravated with her." Asami looked perplexed. "Really? Has she been problematic as far as her behavior goes?" Suyin sighed loudly. "Well, not in an obvious way. Zhu Li is the one acting out but I'm certain it was because Kuvira was provoking her all day long." Asami narrowed her eyes trying to determine what was actually going on. "Su.....do you think maybe you're a little biased when it comes to Kuvira? After everything that happened with Bataar Jr. ? I know her pretty well and I don't see her being the type to make more problems in this situation." Suyin tapped her fingers on her desk in aggravation. "I don't know. I wasn't really too upset about that break up. I guess its possible. I'm just having real trouble tolerating her. Not to mention she's not exactly fond of me...." Su cast her eyes down to the floor and lowered the volume of her voice. ".....after everything that happened with Korra." She glanced back up to Asami with a worried expression. Asami leaned forward and put her hand on Su's to stop her tapping and get her attention. "I realize there's been a lot that's happened between all of us here, but I think its time we try to put it behind us. I will talk to Kuvira. I really need you guys to get along." Suyin looked at Asami thoughtfully, her face softening. "You're right, I'm sorry. I promise I'll try harder to get along with her. Should I call her back in?" Suyin picked up the phone on her desk. "Is she in her office?" Asami nodded her head but stopped Su before she dialed the extension. "Let me talk to her first then I'll send her your way." She glanced up and smiled at Asami then hung up. Asami got up to leave. "I'll check in with you later, thanks again Su."
