"Mom! I'm going to run to the store do you need anything?" Korra had just arrived home from her third day at work. It was Friday and she wanted to go into town to get some groceries so she could make dinner for her parents. "Hold on, let me get ready." Korra stood there perplexed for a moment, then threw her hands up. "Shit mom, I'm just going to the store." Her mom came into the room with her jacket on. "Ya....I know, let's go...and watch your mouth. You and your father are so bad with the cursing." Korra frowned. "Ya....ok, I doubt I would find a girl to hook up with at the store though...like I could handle the grocery store by myself." Senna grabbed the car keys and walked out the door. "Let's go Korra."
The store was full of people, most of them there for the fresh fish market. Friday was the day the fishermen came back in and it was a madhouse trying to get the fish you wanted. She was headed past that back to where the different types of noodles were. She wanted to make Asami's Pad Thai recipe and needed the right noodles and a few other things. As she stood contemplating which ones to get she heard a familiar voice. "Korra??" She turned to see one of her good friends from highschool. "Shin!!!! What's up man?" Her mom was just down the aisle glancing over periodically. "Sis, where the hell have you been? Damn it's been like 2 years since I've seen you." Shin side hugged her and slapped her on the shoulder. "I've been at school up in Republic City....an engineering program. What about you?" He stepped sideways and waved to Senna down the aisle. "Oh you know still fishing with my dad, some other side stuff. Damn your mom is looking good." Korra punched his shoulder. "Don't talk about my mom Shin." She gave him a death stare but then softened her expression. She lowered her voice. "So what side stuff? You still got herb and shit?" He smiled slyly. "Of course...you need something?" She smirked. "Damn right I do, stop by my house later and hang out. Bring whatever you got and I'll buy some." Senna was walking toward them rather quickly. "Hello Shin, it's been a while since I've seen you. How are you?" He looked at the ground nervously. "Hi Miss Senna....I'm good." Korra interjected. "Hey Mom I invited Shin over tonight is that ok? Just to hang out for a little maybe have a fire out back?" She looked at Korra suspiciously. "Oh...sure that would be nice. We need to get going right now though. Did you find what you were looking for?" Korra could tell her mom wasn't happy. "Um..yup they're right here..see ya later Shin." They got out to the car, Senna got in and slapped Korra on the back of the head. "Mom! It's just Shin. Not some girl...NOT his mom." Her eyes remained fixed on Korra. "Korra, you shouldn't even associate with anyone that could possibly have you going in the wrong direction. What do you think his mom will say when he tells her he saw you? Don't you think she might want to see you?" Korra looked confused. "I have no idea, that was a long time ago." Senna sighed loudly. "He doesn't know does he?" Korra looked down. "No! Why would I tell him that?" Senna sat back in her seat. "Look Shin is a nice kid, but I don't need Amka coming around. After tonight don't hang around him anymore."
Asami leaned back in her office chair to take a break from looking at blueprints. She still had so much to do and it looked like it was going to be another late night. Every night this week had been the same. She thought about having Opal and Kuvira stay because they would be helpful and it would be a terrific learning experience for them. She knew that would definitely upset Korra though. It shouldn't matter, this was work related and had nothing to do with anything remotely suspicious. They really needed the extra people. She decided to do it. Korra would just have to deal with it. She sent them both a text asking them to stay and told them she would make sure they had dinner. Asami still had some trouble when she had to deal with Opal. They hadn't talked about what happened and normally she would have cleared things up by now. This was just too personal and still hurt to think about. When they all arrived in the conference room Asami could tell Opal was just as stressed as she was. She wouldn't even look at Asami. They finished their work in half the time though, providing some relief to the usual group of them. Kuvira noticed the tension between the two women and said something to Opal. "Are you ever going to talk to her...at least apologize or something?" Opal looked angry. "Ssshhhh....don't be so loud. I will....I just don't know how yet." Kuvira shook her head. "Do you want my help? I can be there if you want. If we are going to be working this closely with her you need to clear the air." She knew Kuvira was right. "Ok well when would be a good time to do something like that?" Kuvira considered the situation. "Let me talk to her first. I'll call her later when I get home. Then maybe tomorrow we can meet with her." Opal shook her head. "Ok....thanks Kuvira. I owe you."
