Korra's Love

Chapter 1 - The Interns

Korra shot up out of a sound sleep.

"Shit! What time is it?"

She glanced at her alarm clock...6:05am...the alarm hadn't even gone off yet. It was safe to say she was more than a little anxious about her day. It was her first day as an engineering intern at Future Industries. She and two other students from RCU. She was excited but very nervous as she didn't know what would be expected of her.

She jumped through a quick shower, threw on some boxer briefs, a sports bra, black skinny twill pants and a light blue button up oxford. Black socks and black Vans. She had cut her hair recently so it was kind of short but still hung in her face if she didn't style it with some product. She still liked it to have a bit of a messy look. Kind of boring, not exactly what she wanted but she had to look somewhat professional.

6:45!! Time to leave, she hopped on her mountain bike and took off. She didn't really have far to go. Future Industries was about 3/4 of a mile from her apartment. She should make it just ain time.

She was the second student to arrive in the office. An attractive woman was already seated and waiting. Korra recognized her from school but didn't know her name. "Hi I'm Korra, you look familiar."

"I should."

the woman responded,

"we share several classes."

Oh shoot! why didn't I remember that?

"I'm Kuvira."

"Of course!"

Korra responded with a look of recognition. Another student came through the door, she was actually late but it didn't seem to matter because no one was around to greet them. Her name was Opal. They all chatted for a few minutes, turns out Korra and Kuvira were there based on their achievements in the engineering program they were a part of at RCU.  Opal got in due to her mother's position at Future Industries and she wasn't super excited to be there.

After what seemed like forever a tall woman with jet black hair and bright green eyes wearing a black pencil skirt and white button up blouse walked across the office to an adjacent room. She was intensely focused on some paperwork in her hands. Just as she stepped into the room she slowly backed out into the reception area again.  She looked at the ladies with some surprise.

"Are you the interns starting today?"

She asked. Korra has never been timid but this woman had her speechless. She gazed at Korra seemingly waiting for an answer.

"Um.... Yes ma'am we are."

She said with a half smile. A perplexed look shot across the womans face.

"No need to be so formal, my name is Asami."

She extended her hand.

"I hope you will all feel comfortable enough here at Future Industries to call me by my first name."

She shook hands with all of them. Korra's brain was short circuiting..."this is her...Asami...Sato...the boss. Like the big boss. The head of the company. What the hell! Definitely didn't expect to ever see or deal with her, and holy shit is she gorgeous!"
