Ilaria's POV:
The lighted side of the world has always been too bright for me. I wonder why. Why from the very beginning? What was the fault of that young child ?
She simply craved the warm hands of her mother to cradle her soft peach cheeks for the hopes of widening her smile as her glossy eyes would search for her father's proud grin while he tickled his baby girl, eyeing his wife with a grateful stare .
Was it too much to ask? Shouldn't I have been their precious bundle ,full of unknown plans? Wasn't I pure and innocent like any other child at that time? Or have I always been someone or more accurately, something to be hated? Always/
What was the fault of that baby who wanted to see the huge world glowing outside ? Why does she have to be tethered like an animal? Because she was destined to be the dark entity that only created suffering and pain ?
If that's the case, then they were right. I'm that being. Lesser than any human , mean and dark, without a drop of sympathy. I'm that small child , two feet tall with short hair of an unnatural color, who had the lights of her life taken away from her.
Third Person POV:
The purple eyes looked straight ahead. But her sight wasn't clear. Rather hazy. The half lidded eyes were exhausted from trying to find a finish line . But failed to . They held a strange vacancy in them. But this was expected however, since she wasn't the one in charge afterall.
She was disgusted by this fact . But like said before, her confidence and rage have been overshadowed by the exhaustion. The boldness that has always lightened her dark eyes were deemed and defeated.
" I can't tell whether you're angry or upset . Or both . "
The soft voice ringed beside her but that didn't make the woman move an inch.
The man looked at her with eyes that held gentleness. There were worry and concern.
But it wasn't for her. It never was.Eco never felt anything for this particular person . Only pity.
Those eyes weren't concerned, they were pitiful. But it wouldn't change the fact that he'll keep continuing to use her as his mindless puppet to achieve his unknown goals and in the end, burn her to remove all evidence.
The more sympathetically this man looked at her ,the more pain she felt.
" You never loved ,Ilaria. You never even understood what love meant. " His voice cooed.
But I loved you.
" You still don't understand huh? " A smile adorned his face. " Love isn't supposed to be seen as payment Ilaria. "
….it isn't?
" Love is supposed to be unconditional. You aren't supposed to expect something from the person you love except for being loved in return ."
That's it?! There isn't supposed to be any payback?
Eco's slender fingers glided along the violet locks. " You also thought of love as a business, didn't you? That's how you are and always have been. You never loved me or anyone Ilaria. You can't care about anyone."
...It's true. I can't. I don't care for anyone.
A small frown etched in her brows.
Did I never care about anyone? Then what about…
Like every time , her mind went blank at the thought of that person. Someone who saw right through her tough facade. Caught a glimpse of that tiny spark that is surrounded with darkness. And yet, he didn't use that against her like everyone else.
