The rampaging smoke fogged the air. Acrid and suffocating. The burning building fell apart as the flames continue to grow larger and fiercer.

The screams and shouts that were ringing some moments ago has gone silent and still.

The damage was far greater than the Mafia had predicted. Their arrogance slowly seeping away as they witnessed the wreck caused by their enemy.

There was no joy in surviving but being branded the defeated at the same time. Their hearts dull and devastation written across their faces as they imagined their comrades's bodies turning into ash and merging with dust inside the destruction.

And there was Nakahara Chuuya , standing beside them. Face contorted in fury.

An elite team, strong and cold blooded, led by the executive himself. They never imagined to meet their match that night . Equally cruel and stubborn.

The executive glared at the silhouette standing a few feet away from them. There was no one beside her. She gambled with the lives of her own men to win and now stood alone in middle of debris and the pungent smell of burning bodies.

It didn't disgust her. She was far too used to it. Used to seeing blood of her supporters in her hand. Lives of others never mattered to her .As long as it gives her what she wants, she doesn't hesitate to take lives of people who has served under her for several years.

Casualties in business were common for the Mafia. But it was an utter fail this time. Over the years, Chuuya has been assigned many jobs that required brutality and death of people.

He rarely ever knew who his victims were. They didn't have any personal enmity. He probably only saw them for the first time before gravity crushed their life out of them. He only obeyed the orders he was given. It was his job. There were no emotions involved.

But it was different this time. The sight of this woman, alive and with a crown of victory was more than torturous for him. Someone who used the dirtiest trick in the book to achieve her goal, selfish and two-faced.

If only he didn't hesitate to kill her, the result would have been different. And questioning why he didn't do it even after getting the chance was more painful for Chuuya. He isn't any good himself. He gave up the lives of his men to keep a woman alive who didn't deserve it.

He shouldn't even have focused on the rival army. They were only a distraction. He should have realized that Ilaria Alessandro doesn't work in a team. She only likes it when she's the one holding the strings.

The Uccello had always been a one man army. And Ilaria Alessandro happened to be that person.

"You aren't planning to continue, are you?"

The voice sounds distant and soft, yet it didn't fail to sound snide.

Chuuya stared silently as Ilaria faced him. It was evident that she didn't have the strength to continue either.

Where does this much confidence come from?!

Seeing her still standing steadily and unswerving amazed and angred Chuuya. The amount of self control used to look strong and unfazed even deceived Ilaria, herself.

The more he stared at her flashing dark eyes , the more he regretted not slaying the enemy when he had the chance to.

"What if I am?"

Chuuya glowered at the woman, the red aura of his ability glowing once again.

It was stupid, considering he wasn't in the best shape either. But unlike Ilaria, being a leader meant something to him. Avenging the deaths of his subordinates might give him a small bit of satisfaction.
