Chapter Thirty-One - The Estrada Name

KRYSTALLIA

"Split up? Won't Landon say something?" I mentioned and Kris sighed, "He will, but this way we can cover more ground."

He walked to KT, Zach, and Sam and I followed behind.

"Sam, Zach, and Krystal, the three of you follow the right path. KT and I will follow the left," he ordered and turned around, "Dylan!"

Dylan walked over to us, "Yes, sir?"

"Get our Jeeps here," Kris said and Dylan nodded, "Yes, sir."

A few moments later, Kris' and my Jeep Wranglers stopped behind the SUV. The drivers got out and slightly bowed, "Sir."

Kris held out his hand and they gave him the keys. He handed mine to me, "Follow the track, any problems, call me."

I nodded. Kris looked at Dylan, "Drive them back."

"Yes, sir," Dylan said and got in the SUV. The two drivers got in and Dylan turned around the Jeeps, driving back. Kris and KT went to Kris' Jeep, and Sam, Zach, and I got in mine.

We have multiple cars. I just don't drive mine. Whenever we're in this 'forest mission', they'd bust out our Jeep Wranglers, but when it's just me, myself, and I, I'd just drive my own car. But since Kris doesn't like it when I'm alone, my keys are just sitting on my table, wondering when I'm going to use them.

I closed the driver's door and put the key in the ignition. Zach got in the passenger's seat and put on his seatbelt. I put on mine and looked through the rear-view mirror to see Sam sitting in the middle.

"It's going to be a bumpy ride," I said and pressed on the gas pedal. I turned the steering wheel to the right and started following the tire tracks. I turned the headlights on as the sky was dimming.

"It's getting dark soon," Zach said and I nodded, "We'll probably be out here until the next morning if we don't find any sort of sign of where he is."

The tracks started turning left and right at one point and I tried to follow them. Sam's phone then rang and he picked up, "Hey, KT."

A moment later, Sam put the call on speaker and KT's voice spoke, "Kryssie, anything there?"

"The tracks are starting to swerve left and right. It's like they're trying to throw us off."

We heard KT mumble something to Kris before Kris said, "Krystal, be mindful of ribbons on tree branches. We found some when we're following the tracks and they're leading into another direction."

"A third path?" Zach asked and Kris confirmed, "There's a possibility that their base is walking distance away and they used the ribbons to mark their way. It's not easy to spot as the colors are similar to the background so keep an eye out."

I sighed quietly before answering him, "Okay, we'll see where this track leads to and if we find any signs of another path, we'll call you."

"Alright, stay safe."

"You too."

Sam then ended the call and my grip on the steering wheel tightened a fraction.

"Why the hell would she go to this extreme anyway?" Sam asked, looking out the window for any traces. I sighed and rubbed my face with one hand, "When a girl can't forget her ex, they'll do anything to make his new girlfriend's life miserable."
