Chapter Thirty-Two - Fallen Angel

KRYSTALLIA

It's just past seven and I'm starving. We've been going for around forty-five minutes now and I'm starting to see where things are leading to.

I pressed down the clutch before switching gears. The end of the forest soon came and I braked before turning the engine off.

"I'm gonna go down and check," I said to the two guys and they nodded. I opened the door and hopped off, moving to the front of the vehicle.

I crouched down to inspect the tracks and they led out of the forest. I followed it to see it end there. There were no more tire tracks on the deserted road and I sighed in disappointment.

Turning back to the Jeep, I got in and closed the door before buckling up my seatbelt.

"Found anything?" Zach asked and I shook my head, "It just leads to a road."

He placed his hand on my thigh and gently squeezed, "We'll find him."

I nodded and held his hand, "I know."

I took out my phone and called KT. Immediately, he picked up, "Kryssie?"

"KT, we're at the end of the track. It leads to a road."

I heard shuffling before Kris' voice came on, "Really? The track I'm on is leading towards a building, but it's still pretty far away though."

"So I'll turn and head back to the park?" I asked, starting up the Jeep.

"Okay, remember the marks you found."

"I will, see you there."

"See you."

I hung up and put my phone in the cupholder. Reversing, I turned the Jeep around and headed back to the park. My left hand gripped the steering wheel and my right arm leaned on the console, my hand lightly holding the gear stick.

I looked up at the rear-view mirror to see Sam leaning his head against the window, scrolling his phone.

I felt a hand wrap around my wrist and glanced at Zach from the corner of my eye. Even though it was dark, I could still see the smile gracing his face. He leaned in and kissed the hand holding the gear stick.

"Beautiful."

I raised an eyebrow, my eyes focusing on the road, "What is?"

"The fallen angel sitting in the driver's seat. My fallen angel."

I smiled, "Thank you."

He leaned over the console to peck my cheek lightly before resting back in the passenger's seat, holding my hand.

Reaching the track before it split, I drove a little bit more before our people came into sight. I parked it and turned the engine off. I looked back to see Sam with his head against the window, sleeping silently.

I shook my head before shaking his knee, "Sam, we've arrived."

He woke up, rubbing his eyes, "Dinner?"

I shrugged, taking off the seatbelt, "Probably."

Opening the car door, I hopped off the Jeep and closed it. I went to the group and Tyson greeted me, "Miss, we bought McDonald's for dinner."

I smiled gratefully, "Thanks, I'm starving."

"And um, miss?"

I raised an eyebrow, "Yeah?"
