Ava

Groaning, I slowly opened my eyes as I looked for my phone, immediately squinting my eyes as the bright sun shines through my open curtains. I must've forgotten to close them before going to sleep yesterday. I was exhausted from my workday and I fell asleep the moment my head hit the pillow.

Finally finding my phone on the floor, luckily still attached to the charger, I turn off the obnoxious alarm and check the time. It's 7.30am, which means I need to drag my ass out of bed and into the shower to freshen up for yet another day at work.

Finally getting up, I stretch a little while enjoying the sound and the feeling of my bones softly cracking. I make my way into the bathroom attached to my bedroom and sigh when I see the bags underneath my eyes. I'm exhausted from working four days a week and still dealing with all the bullshit my parents put me through with their business. But I guess it's my own fault that I'm so tired all the time. I don't actually need to work, I chose to work. I've grown tired over the past 21 years of my parents and the way they're pushing me to take over the family business.

I moved out of the family home a little over six months ago. I got a job at a customer service company and quickly started training to be a supervisor. Just last week I was given my own team and being their leader has been quite tough. I have a lot of tasks on a daily basis, on top of that I need to make sure that everyone's numbers are on point.
Of course I jumped at the opportunity to have some sort of leading function, my parents have been training me ever since I turned 16 to take over their company, so I knew I would be able to do it. It's just been a little overwhelming and I'm putting in a lot of extra hours at home just to make sure that I know what I'm supposed to be doing. Reviewing their numbers, learning the rules, as well as going over the notes I took with the other supervisors during team meetings.

The reason I moved out, like is said, is because I wanted to escape my parents and their bullshit about taking over the family company. My name is Jung Ava. Originally, my older brother Hoseok was supposed to take over from them, but he moved to Europe to chase after his dreams of becoming a professional dancer. In my opinion, he could've done that here in South-Korea as well. But seeing as he wants to become a dancer, I understand his choice of moving to Europe. When in Europe, our parents can't force him to take over the business.

It's as simple as that.

My parents opened up an entertainment business just five years after my birth. They've always had an eye for talent, which is also why they supported Hoseok when he told them he wanted to become a dancer. He definitely received the artistic gene, as I don't have a artistic bone in my body. I couldn't even draw a straight line even if it could save my life.
