~Castiel's POV
I stared down at my mates gorgeous face. I'd taken her back home immediately after she'd passed out. After I'd given her my blood, she'd fell into a deep sleep. Nothing that any of us did could wake her. The wound on her arm had healed quickly, the one of her stomach taking longer. I was surprised that there was only slight permanent scarring on her stomach. Corena had kept a bandage tightly wrapped around it. She'd been through college to become a doctor over five times. She said that she loved the college atmosphere.
The rest of my family had trickled into the house at the notice of Aurora's condition. My younger brother, Alister, arrived first to properly kick my ass for letting this happen to her. I would say my wolf and my subconscious where putting me down enough for my mate's condition. Her skin had lost it's sun kissed complexion and she looked extremely sick. I was afraid that my blood had a negative effect on her, but the wound had healed and she wasn't really sick. She just looked as if she were. Corena had assured me countless times that Aurora was fine, that her mind was trapped within itself, recovering on it's own. It wasn't just the physical aspect she needed to heal from. It was mentally as well.
My youngest sister, Adela, and her mate, Ethan, had arrived a day after Alister. Adela slapped me upon seeing me and Ethan just shook his head. They'd been mated for 100 years now, Ethan was a werewolf. She was the first of us to get a mate, although she was the youngest out of my fathers children. I'd been angry at first, and had been if I'm being honest, up until I'd met Aurora.
I tried countless times to contact Henry and the other two but had gotten no response. Jacob had started to worry, it'd been too long since they'd checked in, and had reluctantly left Aurora's side. Gabe hadn't left the room since I'd brought her home. He'd tried to kill me, twice, and I could only get near to her when he was asleep. The whole thing had my wolf on edge. He wanted blood for what happened to her, but Aurora had already killed the wolf. I was proud of her for that but nothing could wipe away the guilt I felt for not protecting her better.
Drake wanted to be here, that was obvious. But with people from Kades pack still roaming he couldn't do much more than call when he got the chance. I didn't like this attachment he had to my mate. It was not right. He had his own female to love and protect, yet he worried over mine. It troubled me and made me wonder what had happened between the two. Gabe stirred and I sighed. He would awaken soon, and tell me to leave anyway. I was exhausted, physically and mentally. I hadn't slept an ounce. I rubbed my eyes and dragged my feet towards the door. I closed the door behind me and slid down it. I rested my head against the surface, allowing my eyes to drift shut.
"She will be alright, you know." It was Liam. I peeked one eye open and looked up at him. We hadn't had time to speak about things relating to him. He seemed fine, but Liam was very good at masking his emotions. He spoke little and tended to keep to himself. You didn't get nothing out of him unless he wanted you to know. "I do not know. The future is uncertain and it troubles me. Yours as well as hers." Liam crossed his arms over his chest and looked away. "I told you that I was fine." He mumbled before looking back at me. I smiled softly. "You are so much younger than me and yet I feel you have seen enough to make your spirit as old as I am." He rolled his eyes and sighed. "I am going to track down some friends of mine from back then, try to arrange something. More than anything, I just need to see her again." He took in a shaky breath and I nodded in understanding. "Yazmina or Eden?" I asked him. "Both of them. I made a promise to Yaz before I left. I owe her immensely." He chuckled and the tension between us evaporated. I could now believe that he was fine. "I'm just upset that they couldn't have been at Reece's funeral. He spoke of them often." Liam murmured and shook his head. "That is done now, I am fine. I promise. I'm just shaken up by it. I'll go see if I can get through to her brother again. He'll have your head for this, him and Drew." Liam grinned whilst I rolled my eyes. I despised Drew for being intimate with my mate. The bond between them was almost tangible. But that just meant I needed bigger shears to sever it.
